Greetings, all. I was turned on to Zibana by a post in a Starbuck's thread on Anand's a month or so ago (can't find the original thread), so thanks to someone out there.

Zibana has a free pound of their Commonwealth blend with any order over $10 and free ground shipping on all orders. If you are a fine coffee newbie like myself, be aware that these are coffee beans and you will need a grinder.

Deal #1: For the coffee beginner that needs a grinder to get started, here is the economical electric coffee grinder for $12.95. This comes with a free pound of coffee and free shipping.

Deal #2: If you already have a grinder and just need some coffee, get the 2 pounds and free mug for $17.95. This is a pound of Commonwealth blend and a pound of Provenzal. You also get a 2nd pound of Commonwealth blend for free and free shipping.

I ordered the 2 pounds with free pound and mug, and then realized that this was probably beans and I would need a grinder. I logged back in and ordered the grinder with free pound with a different credit card. Zibana was smart enough to notice that both shipments were going to the same address (even though name is slightly different on the two credit cards) and packaged it all in one box. Saved them a little on shipping, which shows pretty good business sense on their part.

I've tried the commonwealth, and it is pretty good. A nice change from pre-ground consumer coffee, and plus it's kinda fun grinding up your own beans. I haven't tried the provenzal yet, but it offers a taste reminiscent of roasted nuts and mandarin oranges.

EDIT: changed price of grinder to $12.95 (it show up in cart as $12.95 even though the zibana.com main page shows $13.95).

Thanks for the deal. My local coffee company got sold; the new owners have not reopened the outlet store (where I could buy fresh roasted whole bean coffee for as little as $4.95 a pound) yet. This will keep me supplied until they reopen it.

Please...tell me that this coffee is not flavored orange!!

If this is a highbrow flavor description fine, but if it actually tastes orange it is not something I want to spend $10 on.

I don't see the free pound with the grinder and the grinder shows up at 12.95 versus 13.95. The only deal I see is the 2 lbs plus the mug. Have they changed the offer?

Hm interesting, i'm kind of a newbie too

Hows the coffee compared to starbucks? I bought 2lbs of kirkland(costco), which is done by starbucks or something. It tastes burnt and a little unpleasant. I hope this stuff isn't like that.. i'm a wuss and like flavored coffees more it seems

Oh yea, more important question is how long can one keep beans fresh? Its gonna take me a while to burn through my current 2lbs.

Coolgreany, On the main Zibana page (www.zibana.com) it says:

Special Offers

Free Coffee! Get a pound of coffee with any order over $10. Extended thanks to popular demand.

Also, on the main page the grinder is listed as $13.95. Only when you click on the grinder does it show as $12.95. It was $12.95 when I bought mine, I just thought that they had upped the price by $1. I have changed my original post to reflect the price of $12.95.

Zucchini, I have never had Starbuck's coffee, so I can't compare with the Zibana. I can say that people were complaining about the "burnt" taste of Starbuck's in the post that turned me on to Zibana, and someone recommended Zibana coffee in response.

I don't know how long coffee beans last. The zibana coffee is vacuum packed, so it will hopefully last a while.

I got great service from Zibana, and will be going back when the coffee runs out... good stuff.... One hint, keep the unground beans in the freezer to keep them fresher longer....

Hehe I love how some people compare all coffee to Starbucks and assume that since it's a "Brand name" that it's good coffee..

I've had probably well over 100 different blends of coffee worldwide and I would say that Starbucks makes the WORST commercial blend of coffee (Besides the crap like Maxwell house and whatever they serve at Donut shops). Every blend of theirs tastes the same - bitter, bland, and thin-bodied.

The only good thing about Starbucks is their business model and their frappucinos..

I'd say some of the best commercial coffee is from Peet's, Seattle's Best, or Coffee Bean. I'll definitely have to give Zibana a try though. Looks good to me.

It continues to amaze me that Starbucks coffee is so awful. I would go further than amnesiac in condeming the stuff. I think it is worse than even the lowest end commercial coffees in terms of taste.

That having been said, I should note that I end up in a Starbucks once a month or so because is it so convenient, clean and they have comfy chairs.

I agree Starbucks $$$ does seem burnt. However if you drink alot of coffee from shops you learn dark roasted coffees (which is about all they offer) have that taste in general. Try a Kenya AA which is milder and less acidic.
