I have specific doubts about that. There's a ton of Windows 8 stuff going on in NYC that week; Microsoft of course, along with Asus and apparently others. The Big Android BBQ conference is also that week in Dallas. As a result the tech press is already going to be busy and literally at the opposite end of the country that week.

The Yerba Buena Center is currently available on October 23rd.

Thankfully, the mini is a 7.85" tablet. I wanted to buy a Nexus 7 but 7" is too small imho.

It's Apple, what were you expecting? They are going to still make their massive profit margins on anything they sell. They are doing 8GB's at $250(guessing here) to get a low price point to compete with the Nexus 7/Kindle HD. But, they know full well that isn't enough storage for most and a lot of folks will upgrade to the 16GB for $100. I promise they will be making plenty on the 8GB but when you make $95 profit on a $100 upgrade that % goes through the roof. They still get those who don't want to spend much but will pay a little more for an iPad but make more off those who want more storage.

Yes, Euros. But that includes VAT. Take of the ~18% or so tax and it comes pretty darn close to $250, etc.

Anyone in control of an inventory system could enter a bunch of place-holders to prepare for the iPad Mini. Notice how they entered WAY more models than there would possibly be? It's because the person who created those entries was just trying to cover every possibility. He/she didn't have any special information at all.

That's what I'm saying. Some guy speculated the same way as you and entered every model he could think of. He didn't know someone at Apple or get an email from Tim Cook.

Apple should definitely keep this simple, since it's not their flagship product in any way. There almost certainly will not be a version with any kind of 3G/4G mobile connectivity. It should be WiFi-only.

It almost certainly won't have all those capacities available either. Did you know that the iPod Touch 5th gen is only available in two capacities? 32GB, 64GB

It's a big assumption that each version will be available in both black and white. When the iPhone 3G was first released, you had to buy the 16GB version to get white. One reason for this was to simplify inventory management for retailers that had too many SKUs to deal with.

You mean, like, almost never? The only reason they would be "usually right" is because someone has the same amount of information we do and he/she is making an educated guess.

I remember when some retailer added a bunch of entries for Wii remotes in different colors before the Wii was released. People acted like it was solid information. Colored Wii remotes didn't come out until YEARS later, and they never had half of the colors that retailer had listed.

Apple Insider claims there are 24 different models (!) of the mini, and the invitations to the event will go out today.

I'm tempted to get one for my mom for Christmas... and maybe one for me. :$ I might try the 16GB or 32GB LTE one. I'll eventually upgrade my normal iPad to the latest 64GB (or 128GB if they upgrade it) LTE so I'm not sure if I want to get the largest iPad Mini.
