I am not sure there is the need for so much hate at this point. Maybe when October passes without an announcement? (But probably not even then since it is not a matter of if, it is a matter of when for the iPad Mini.)

BTW, these same sources nailed it on the iPhone 5.

Apple basically have to give a week's notice since the press fly in on their own dime. You can't go "surprise, you're coming to Cupertino, CA on a day's notice!" and get away with it.

Hoax? I haven't heard anyone at Apple come out and deny they are working on a Mini. There have been several image and information leaks showing a smaller iPad being in production. A lot of Apple rumors end up coming true. The iPhone 5 rumors were pretty spot on. The main thing people get wrong is the release date. That's the number one unknown in the Apple world.

As for your beef with the WSJ, that is a perfectly legit complaint, but your ire should be aimed at the journalistic integrity of supposedly legitimate news groups, not rumor mills such as Macworld. I believe the WSJ should be above sites such as Macrumors, however I have no reason to be mad at people who bring rumors out. As with any rumor, take it for what its worth.

Thing that got me to bite was the parts buildup being noted by "insiders" indicating 10mil of the mini's were in production for holiday season. I'm particulary interested, if this turns out to be a real product, for how apple will market it, the name along with the apple brand is gonna be one right down the middle for the marketing guys.

Are you saying that you have proof that the iPad Mini does not exist and will not exist within the reasonably near future?

The WSJ is Apple's official "leak" site. Apple uses the WSJ to test the waters with consumers, whether it's on upcoming changes, events, or to get an idea for how people will react to pricing. For example:

This iPad mini thing won't impress me one bit. It can't play MPEG2-TS HD files so it's useless for me. This is the reason why I axed iPad 2 and didn't get the 3, and certainly not going to get iPad 79 (if I'm still alive ). MBP is flat out better.

i like the CineXPlayer app on the iPad since i can play all sorts of video files.... .avi, .mkv, etc.

I have specific doubts about that. There's a ton of Windows 8 stuff going on in NYC that week; Microsoft of course, along with Asus and apparently others. The Big Android BBQ conference is also that week in Dallas. As a result the tech press is already going to be busy and literally at the opposite end of the country that week.
