2002 Ford Ranger mileage (his previous car, although they don't mention the model year): 17/22

So, she reduced his gas bill by about 45%, or $290/month. The car will pay for itself in just 54 short months.

One, she's rich enough to buy a stranger a car. Do you think she gives a damn about saving a few bucks?

Two, the KBB value of a 2002 Honda Civic DX Sedan 4D is just under $12,000. We don't exactly the model, so we'll just have to assume. Add to that it was sold in CA, with an extended warranty, the taxes and fees, etc., $16,000 dosen't sound like a stretch.

Still, the guy was driving a Ford Ranger pickup that was costing him $650 a month in gas. Why didn't he move or trade that thing in for a different car?

Add increasing cost of gas and inflation.
