A friend of mine died . . ..

I'm in shock.

A friend of mine from the judo club I work out at has passed away. He was young, healthy and strong as an ox, but had a massive stroke.

No warning, I read the email from the sensei and I'm still in shock.

Visitation is tomorrow, I am at a loss for words.

My condolences. Had a friend pass away similarly in college with no warning. Again, young, healthy, and strong - was playing basketball and just suddenly collapsed.

My uncle passed away unexpectedly too. He was around 59-61. One of those rare people in that age group who wasn't prescribed any kind of daily medication. He never owned a car and never learned how to ride a bike so he walked everywhere and used mass transit. Incredible stamina. One day, his wife had come down with a fever so he took her to the hospital. She went in to see the doctor, he was sitting out in the waiting room. His wife was still in when a nurse noticed he was slumped over strange in his chair.

He had passed away. Just out of the blue, a man who never had any kind of medical issues whatsoever, died sitting in a chair in the hospital.

Maybe the stress of his wife being in the hospital put strain on his heart or brought out a condition?

Tragic. I've had some close family members pass away in the past few years, but I wouldn't like to know what it's like to see a good friend die young.

Wow, a friend of mine just passed away too. He was same age as me, 34. Went to bed, had a heart attack in his sleep, wife woke up with him dead. No warning or anything. I know what the shock can be like, so my condolences. I just had dinner with his family too, maybe a couple weeks before.

One of my best friends died in a car wreck at 23. That was 24 years ago and I still think about him. Decent guy.
