A humble request for advice

Tomorrow morning i plan to remove my PIII-800 and Abit VT6X4 mobo and replace it with an Abit KT7e and a 1.4 AYHJA. I have decided to just change the hardware out , reboot , and hope for the best. I figure the VIA 4 in 1's are probably same as the 4.32's that I have installed.
Advice would be greatly appreciated.

What OS are you running?

I've found 98 to be more forgiving than 2k, but I would be prepared for a clean install.

at the very least, here's what you wanna do:

go in device manager, and remove EVERYTHING

then install your stuff

load up drivers as normal afterwards

thats your best hope for a stable system considering what you are doing

but be prepared for the fact you might have to reinstall windows

If you're using Win9X, go to Device Manager and change the Disk Controller to Standard Dual PCI when the system reboots turn it off before it reboots all the way. Switch mobo and then upon reboot Win9X will detect the new chipset drivers and ask for them. Insert CD rom and you're done.

You might as well bite the bullet and format and reinstall the OS after you upgrade your cpu\mb. Your system might run ok, but it will run really sweet if you format and do a fresh installation.
