A little help please

Hi Guys,

So it all started a few days again when my PC just completely died. After replacing the PS, it now boots up again. I've also reseated the HSF, re-applied paste. and cleared cmos.

The computer boots up the only thing that shows up is

line 1: press F11 fo boot sequence
line 2: memory in dual channel mode


and that's it, it doesn't scan harddrives or memory check or anything.
I've unplugged all harddrives. I have 3 sticks of 512 pc3200 ram, I've tried all 3 seperately in all 4 slots. the only thing it changes is line 2 going from dual channel to single channel mode.

If anyone has any info/suggestion, it would be appreciated. I really don't want to spend the money to upgrade, as I don't need a super nice computer.

I'm currently running a Opty 165, Asrock 939DualSata2, pc3200 ram, Hyper X and a stick of Mushkin., Antec Neo500 PS.

As much as I'd like to leave it at that and curtly not contribute, in protest at everyone who has ever typed "opty" or "lappy":

Check all connections. Again.
Take all drives other than boot drive off, see if it will POST.
Take the boot drive off, see if it will POST.
Try attaching just an optical drive and running memtest www.memtest.org
Clear the CMOS again?
Try another power supply. Maybe your new one is dodgy or crap.

well, please go to http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and download and burn the ISO, we'll need it later.

I will need the following specs.

System manufacturer and Exact Model(if name Brand):
Service Tag (if Dell):
Motherboard Manufacturer with BIOS Revision and Model:
CPU Manufacturer and Model:
RAM Manufacturer and Model:
PSU Manufacturer and Model:

If anyone has any info/suggestion, it would be appreciated.

Suggestion: Try it with only 1 single stick of ram, in the slot furthest away from the cpu.

Tried everything that wa suggested. checked all connections, different ram in different slots. removed all pci cards, cleared cmos.

same result. If the ram or cpu is bad, there should be no boot at all right? I wonder what it is.

well, as I said in the OP, Opteron 165, Asrock 939Dual Sata2, 2 sticks of HyperX Pc3200 ram, and an brand new Antec Neo500 power supply. The bios should be from OCWorkbench. I did have this set up running at about 2.4, But that was a long time ago.

If Frys doesn't have any good sale between now and friday, I'm gonna bring the whole PC to my dad's and use his machine to test every component. Too bad my roommate went AM2.

Robis, how would a boot cd help if he can't POST properly?

I've got the same motherboard you have, Goose, it sounds like some problems I had. Might want to try new RAM and PSU. It *could* be getting insufficient voltage.

Then again, it could be cold. My mobo is schitzo.

Believe me, I wish I knew all the info you need. the BIOS is OCworkbench beta 3. The old PS was an Antec True430, new one is Neo500, so I'm not sure why it would be a power issue. I wish I can get into BIOS, at least I can increase voltage to ram if that was the case.
