What is that? I figured the lg is log, but unless log(8) is higher than 4 (I only get 2.something), what I would think the % is would be useless...
(I get 4.158883 with "log(8) + log(8) % 8" )

He probably meant the logarithm with base 2.

log_2(8) + log_2(8) % 8 = log_2(2^3) + log_2(2^3) = log_2(2^6) = 6 * log_2(2) = 6.
