There's an experiment a lot like this in Super Size Me where they take some McDonald's food and some non-fast food burgers and let them sit for weeks. It is rather scary.

I really need to watch that sometime. I did give up McD's/BK/Wendy's last year but I'd like to know more about what I'm missing.

Doesn't surprise me. Fast food is nasty stuff, yeah it tastes decent but i dont know why people eat it all the time. everytime i eat at fast food i feel like crap afterwards.

just wait for all the fast food defenders to come in here and defend their poor eating choices!

Interesting, but just because preservatives work doesn't mean they're bad for you. Everything is a "chemical food". The food I'm eating now is packed with egregious, insidious chemicals like dihydrogen monoxide, sodium chloride, and eicosapentaenoic acid. Pray for me. That web page is full of ridiculous hippy dogma.

Also, a McDonald's hamburger is not likely to have significantly less nutritional value than any other food made of beef and bread. The three cardinal nutritional elements, protein, carbohydrate, and fat, are all quite present. The beef, like any other uncured meat, is processed and then frozen, and thus retains it's nutritional value. The bread is as healthy as any other enriched white bread. There's no magical property about McDonald's whereby the beef suddenly stops being beef and the bread stops being bread. Hippies. Just say no.

A statement of fact for me... I don't feel any worse when I eat fast food than I do when eating regular / healthy food. I'm 30 now and I fully expected to, but I still don't. Maybe one day, but until then, I love me some good tasting stuff. Healthy food does not compare.

People take their chances with smoking and drinking... so by not doing those things, I can afford to eat some badass fast food. Rate my defense.
