A Million Ways to Die in the West
Well, pretty funny.
Mel brooks couldn't have done better.

Favorite lines:

Gee, people live to be almost 35 now a days.
I don't want to be a 15 year old old-maid.
I don't want to go to the fair. People die at the fair.
(Preacher) Let us remember the loss of our fellow citizen smashed under a block of ice.
Let us remember him as we sip on our cool refreshing drinks this Summer.
Thank you all. And be careful, there is a Coyote watch in effect.
There is a dead body in the street. Oh, thats just the mayor. He's been there a few weeks now.
Your a terrible sheep farmer. Your sheep are everywhere. Some over here, over there, one on your roof. (Camera shot of a sheep on the roof).
(Introducing girlfriend) And this is my mother and father. (Father) Fuck off.
(Sarah Silverman the town whore) I've had hundreds of men but Im a Christian, so honey I want to save myself for our wedding night.
Oh, her, she died when a tumbling tumble weed cut her throat.

Non stop comedy, death, fuck jokes, sheep, spatular wild west scenery better then any western i've seen.
Liam Neeson's best role.
Neil Patrick Harris sex with my mustache scene.
Sarah Silverman, perfection in comedy.
Charlize Theron. Nuff said.
Bill Maher. One of many surprise appearances.

This calls for a new thread: Why are the Jews so successful at comedy?

Maybe not.

Obviously you'd only like this if you like Family Guy which I happen to think is retarded, same jokes over and over and in the previews for this, this looks the same. I will definitely not be seeing this.

It's only got a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Going to end up being one of those movies all watch if I happen to come across it on cable or Netflix. The problem with Seth MacFarlane is he's been using the exact same formula for 15 years now, and it's started to get real stale.

I hope Mike & Jay from Half in the Bag review it.

Well, it might be funny, but doesn't sound that way from the OP. Sounds more like something kids might find funny if they've never encountered much real humor before.

Holy Christ, this movie was freakin' hilarious in parts. Overall it was pretty funny, but in two parts, I laughed harder than I've ever laughed before.

wouldn't be the first time that a comedy tanked at the box office and by critical reviews only to go on and become wildly popular

I have yet to see it, likely won't see it in theaters, but I'm reserving my judgement

at any rate, with so many blockbusters lately, (5 weekends in a row @ 50+Million or something like that) I'm really not surprised that people ended up passing on this movie regardless of whether its good or not

It looked like it could be funny but people are saying it doesn't even hold up against Ted, which wasn't that great anyway.

Sad news, as I was pumped to see this flick. The trailers on TV made me laugh out loud. This news reminds me that really good comedy is not as easy to make as it might seem. There is a fine line between successful gonzo comedy and utter failure.

How can a movie making half of it's budget back opening weekend be tanking? Isn't that what most big budget movies do?

A lot of people hate Seth McFarline, which is why I think it's rated so poorly. The movie is freakin' hilarious. Not really "Family Guy" type humor, but more morbid, uncomfortable humor.

When McFarlane's slightly less stupid movie, Ted, grosses $54M its opening weekend, that's a sign it's bad. Or when another annoyingly bad movie, Blended, outgrosses this travesty of comedy--comparing opening weekend grosses for both movies--I'd think it's well on its way to tanking. Even the studio was downplaying how well it'd do by estimating its opening weekend at $20M, and even that pathetic take was not achieved, esp. bad given all the promotion it's had the last two weeks.

Are the "jokes" in the previews a good indication as to the actual humor in the movie?

Serious question, from someone who believes Seth MacFarlane is in fact a brilliant writer. The previews looked to be full of slap-stick type "guy gets hit in balls" type garbage.

The jokes come in from left field. You never see a lot of them coming. A lot of the others are Mel Brooks style jokes.
