You just don't get it do you? There is a reason that there are Muslim issues all over Europe...but your head is buried so far up your ass, you have no clue what is going on the real world...

No..the fact is Americans are more scared of Muslims in Europe then Europeans are.
That also includes those French *surrender monkeys*

edit- I should say the Americans posting on message boards, because I try to believe most Americans really aren't paying attention and are too busy doing other things, like raising a family, sports, jobs (that don't involve sitting on message boards all day) going outside etc.

If someone did not go out and find those links for us, if we were left to our own devices, would we ever hear or know of it? I think not.
-snip-

Interesting point.

In the Qu'ran burning thread I put blame on the MSM for publicizing the threat by the FL 'pastor'. W/o that publicity there would have been no 'news' to report. BTW: The WBC burned a Qu'ran back in '08 and it was a non-event because the press didn't make it into one.

I have seen the links here demonstrating that numerous Islamic groups have denounced terrorism/terrorists. How come the MSM didn't feel that those were newsworthy?

We've also had a thread where we saw an Imam start a project to teach young Muslim against terrorism; how come that wasn't newsworthy?

I still the MSM deserves some blame for inflamed tensions etc.

Your idea of Western Culture sounds a lot like some sort of Nazism. Here in Canada we don't practice this integration that you seem to want.
And believe it or not, but a lot of Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, British, Irish etc. etc. immigrants to America love their former culture and are proud of it.

P.S.- It's so weird talking immigrants to a bunch of immigrants.

Yeah, but it seems to me that (some) Islamic immigrants are different.

Chinese, Japanese etc do not bring with them a religion which thinks it should rule the government. For that matter neither do all Arabs etc, some are Coptics etc.

However, for a great many Muslims their beliefs mandate that the government be ruled by Islam - beliefs and Mullahs/Imams. This is unique, I believe, in that no other group of immigrants have held such a belief. And this belief is in fundamental conflict with migrating to a non-Muslim country. How to reconcile that belief with the principle of seperation of church and state, for example.

(IIRC, Al Sistani does teach seperation of church and state, so there are exceptions)

If American Muslims, in general, were embraced as Americans they could THEN begin to integrate and assimilate. So long as they are alienated as a threat to America then the moderates will identify more with the foreigners and extremists than with us.

What happens to the ones that do not want to assimiliate? Some are not willing because the traditions of the West are in direct conflict with the beliefs they have been raised with since they were born.

This is the root cause of the problem. Why do people who know they are moving to a country whose values are totally opposite of the ones they have been ingrained with since birth still move there anyway? Do they really hope that the other country will change to accept their beliefs?

Oh come on now...

Do you agree that those Christians who are slamming Islam are being hypocrites?
That those Christians who are advocating a war on Islam are being hypocrites?
When you turn your tv on Sunday morning do you not see a bunch of hypocrites begging for your money?
What about Christians who approve the death penalty?

None of those folk are following Jesus's preachings.
Look if your one of the above mentioned Christians then that's ok fine with me, you have your beliefs, and there ain't no way I'm going to enlighten you on a message board.

Is there Christians who would give you the shirt off their back and turn the other cheek?
Yes there is, I have met lots of them, I never said otherwise.
I think you missed my point...how can you on one hand criticize those who hate Islam based on the actions of a few...and then on the other make a derogatory comment regarding Christianity's ethics based on the actions of a few? Cognitive dissonance FTL.

eBigots at that. The toughest kind there are.

It is even more fun to watch these troglodytes grunt than it was when they were eSoldiers during the Iraq invasion years ago. Go forth and be productive little cheerleaders...

Some people do... some people type.

7067 posts. You sure type a lot.

That must be why they are passing laws to ban burquas, minarets in the skyline, etc in Europe...

Are they banning burquas because they are afraid of them? Or could there be another reason?

The only thing I can suggest is for you guys to actually go out and meet some of these neighbors of yours and see how threatening they really are.

edit- You know, some of that good old fashion American hospitality, and friendliness that you hear about and see in the movies.

I don't have a problem with Mosque or burning Qu'ran. Those freedoms were hard to get and we should not give them up just because political correctness or current events such as some Muslims getting a little bit crazy. That said I don't like religion in general and especially Islam which is pretty draconian and violent to achieve what people believe is gods will.

I got to just quit assuming people here could put 2 and 2 together on their own....

Burqa's for ID purposes.
Tall buildings for because of views and tourism.

I don't know if I agree with either. I will wait and if it comes up in my town I will form an opinion and get into the debate.

We have to become more valuable to the moderates than they are. They won't be able to do much alone.

Well, good for you I guess?
Should you be able to force that on other Americans who chose to be proud of their Lithuanian culture?
I don't think so.

Arent you one of those arguing against the whole born on US soil thing?

I have no problem with people not integrating completely into our culture, but they have to play inside this nations rules. I was simply stating a point that your immigrants comment about Americans is retarded.

America has had history of bad behavior towards a group of people, be it African Americans, Orientals (during WW2), perceived Communists and so on. I urge every one here to not let history repeat itself.

I felt like commenting on this because it isn't talked about a whole lot. It isn't America that has a history of bad behavior towards specific groups, it is Everyone. Or more specifically, almost every group has an issue with some other group(s). You make this sound like America is the only country that has it out for some other group, and that isn't the case. We are as imperfect as the rest of the world, and the rest of the world is as imperfect as us.
