A new album from that band you like JUST came out! Do you download it, go out and buy it, download it THEN go buy it, or other... Bear in mind, I'm asking about your favorite band. I want to know how many people, if after hearing a cool song/album, still go out and support their arists.

If I just hear a cd in a friends car, Ill go dl some mp3s, listen to em, and then probably (more often than not) go buy the cd. Either way, I delete the MP3s (either to get rid of the crappy artist that sucks a monkeys dongle, or to replace them with higher quality MP3s direct from my cd).

If its a band that I love and already have several cds of (I have very few single albums from an artist. Im something of a completist, I like having all of an artists killer albums ) then I buy it outright the day it comes out. (bands like Remy Zero, The Ataris, New Found Glory, Jets To Brazil, Radiohead[though ive later resold the latest two radiohead albums..blech], Braid (now Hey Mercedes), Get Up Kids, etc......come on, you knew I had to put that in )

I'll try and aquire at least 3 or 4 songs off the album via the web and if I'm satisfied I'll buy the album.

if its a band I like enough I will buy the CD. I like having the lyrics and all that, and dont have to worry about bad rips. I almost always download mp3s first as a sampling.

Yup. Especially since most of the stuff I like isn't played on the radio.

Yes, MP3 is essentially a nice sampling tool. It's like shareware...try before you buy. Some downloads result in purchases, some don't.

that's exactly what i do.. if an album i like comes out (from listening to radio samples) i will download it so i have copies.. but i will buy it.

BUT... I always listen before buying. If the cd's got more than one good song on it, I'll buy it.

New pair of Grado headphones . . . MP3s really SUCK compared to CD (although they are fine in the car or on the PC).

I just spent $149 at BMG Music Club for 22 CDs (cool sale with free shipping about $6.75 a disc).

I COULD have D/L'd Bob Marley's 4-CD box set songs, but it just wouldn't have been the same as the legit package. Same with Steely's Dan's complete catalog 4CD package.

I DO sample MP3s off the 'net.

But when it's an album I want, I buy it. For example, I liked the first Godsmack album (I d/l'd) - without hearing the new one I bought it and am totally satisfied. If Dido comes out with her second album, I will buy it without hearing it first. HOWEVER, these are the EXCEPTIONS.

I usually listen to a few songs online to see if I like more than one. If so, I'll go out and buy the cd.
