You can't really base your judgements on just one site's reviews, especially when the site is not exactly "up there" in terms of reliability.
From what I've seen Chip.de is a rather highly respected german tech site.
That said, the anisotropic filtering, FSAA tests were hardly fairly compared.
I find it mildly perturbing Chip.de found a few driver issues with the R9700. They've made some impressive strides with the R8500 since launch, I hope they don't start to fall into their old habits again.
Still, this is pre-release so some bugs are to be expected.

Rand that review simply stinks and points towards 1 or 2 different senarios:
#1 chip.de is being the puppet under control of a huge pr machine!, or,
#2 chip.de is so blinded by the greasy smear look of Quincunx that they imputed incorrect data in their graphs
Thats one of the most biased reviews I have ever seen!!
They even benched Serious Sam using direct 3d!! WTF??????
Uh, yes it is (although you could argue that not for $400). With a 40% gain you can usually jump to the next resolution as settings that were previously marginally playable now become smooth.40% faster than the GF4 ti 4600 is not that many more frame rates.
Whatever man. Something 300% faster is 2.5 times the speed of itself so if you're getting an unplayable 30 FPS that suddenly jumps to 75 FPS. 300% is massive.Even 250 to 300% is not that much faster.
If these are the release drivers that will ship with the card then this is pretty worrying. Serious Sam2 is part of the standard benchmarks suite on most websites. If you can't run standard benchmarks then something is very wrong.I find it mildly perturbing Chip.de found a few driver issues with the R9700.
There's nothing wrong with it but if you're only running the benchmarks once then it pays to use OpenGL since the engine runs best under it. Of course chucking in Direct3D benchmarks next to the OpenGL ones is actually quite a good idea as you rarely get the opportunity to do this in any game.what's so bad about benchmarking it in D3D?
LOL! You gotta love that transaltor.activated edge smoothing still more wacker, she pushes herself - together with the Matrox Parhelia

Why not just WAIT a few days when we'll get some REAL reviews from web sites we TRUST like AT?

Not to put down that site, but that is most likely bending the numbers to make one product look better than the other. Quincux=2X FSAA, and where as the R9700 is 6X AA!!!!!:Q I'll add, the 9700 didn't do that badOriginally posted by: Dean
Oh now thats a fair review!!
lets see here, this is his setup:
GF4: Quincunx + 8x AF (give me a break!!)
Parhelia: 16xFAA + 2x AF
R9700: 6xMS + 16x AF
Wait for some real benchies fellas
Dean
Even 250 to 300% is not that much faster.
