Think of this as Ikariam without the bugs, and without the silly embassies which limit alliance size.

i set up the email notification so my blackberry gets a beep whenever a building is completed. thinking of getting the administrator because the queue limit is really messing with my life.

I have that setup too.. however it's in german... Is there any way to change it?

I only get it in German when it sends the message saying my city is idle/done with construction. They are still translating parts of the game that were missed.

what's a browser game? Just a flash game? *did not read past page one or google*

Just a Javascript-based game that runs in a browser. For this style game, think of something like the classic "Civilization" except in real time with hundreds of people playing. Sign up and try it.

I had been attacking the green-flagged, inner cities with all six of my troops. Slowly, I started reducing the amount of troops I sent until I see you can send one soldier to attack one of these villages. Is there a difference with the amount of goods pillaged by doing attacking this way?

Has anyone attacked another player's village yet? Looks like I have a neighbor that setup an account, but hasn't played. I have 8 soldiers. Is that enough to attack?

Same here. The first day I was getting English emails. After that they've been in German.

Yes, one unit of swordsmen can carry 16 items. If you send one he will bring 16 if you send 6 theyll bring 90+...

And read somewhere that to attack an undeveloped village that has the 6 swordsmen requires 18 swordmen and youll lose them all even thought you win. Havent tested it out myself...

There's a combat simulator in the Agora (building in your city). It shows you will need 20 swords or 11 slingers to defeat someone's initial 6 swords.

Yes, swordsmen are defensive units, attacking swordsmen with swordsmen will just get you owned. I suggest you read my new unit guide on the dailysum forums.

Well it does show that 18 swordsmen will kill the 6 defenders while loosing. If you send more youll just sacrifice more units for nothing really. Why not use 2 waves? First the exact minimum to kill all the defenders and another one that loots the city? This would minimize losses.

Also, am I missing something? What is this dailysum thing? Seems like there alot more people here talking about Grepolis than there are people in the ATOTA alliance or at least the names dont seem to match up...

The dailysum is another forum so we can have more discussions. When Ikariam was firing on all cylinders there was no way a single thread here was enough. If it picks up, we'd need a separate forum...

Why?

Slingers are faster AND more powerful for attack if you need it, play around with them in the simulator. For undefended cities I would think speed > *. Slingers have the same total cost as archers but it's split between all 3 resources.

I'm not seeing a downside to slingers in the early game.

I'm not seeing a downside to slingers in the early game.

because slingers can only carry 8 resources each whereas archers can carry 24, while being only 15% slower. this means that archers are about 260% more efficient than slingers at raiding undefended cities.
