A PhD in economics will help you work as an economist. It will not help you run a business.

I will tell you right now that $7/hr will not even pay your rent.

Masters in economics, LOL!

Well lets see....7 an hour at 12 hrs a day 7 days a week 4 weeks a month and 12 months a year nets around 700k assuming full capacity. Even if profits are 25% of this, implying that we are at full capacity for a mere 25% of the year,it would cover the costs. This does not include revenue generated from food sales and membership options, and social events. Maybe you need a reality check.

You can play everything on ultra at 1440p with a $500 rig... yea at 5 fps lol. But if I gave you the benefit of the doubt, I would tell you that there are plenty of reasons. First off so you wont be the basement nerd you described yourself as. You could actually socialize with other people as you play. You could even play with your friends, permitting you have any. You can play at 4k resolutions which would run you at least 2-3k if you did it on your own. And while you are right people dont go to see IMAX when they can watch Netflix they do go to the regular movies. That would be the equivalent of what I am offering. Besides IMAX is not doing so bad, they just had a buyout.

I never described myself as a basement nerd, jackass. And you created this thread to get people's "thoughts" but ignore everything they say and portray yourself as some kind of genius while never having run a business in your life.

Give up.

If people truly believe 4K is a must have, then the populace will start purchasing 4k monitors/tv's That in turn will reduce the cost of said item and make it where everyone can enjoy a 4K monitor/tv for cheap. Look at HD. Same thing happened.

So that kind of throws a wrench in your plan of being an exclusive provider of the product.

Thats such broken logic. For many of us materialistic Americans, big houses and sports cars are a must have. So are lofts, expensive jewelry, etc etc yet we only see wealthy people purchasing those objects. The cheapest 4k tv you could buy right now would run you about 2k. Most people cannot afford to spend 2k on such a commodity. We have unlimited demands with fixed incomes, people have to make rational choices.

I never said that either, jackass.

When you misquote someone, slightly changing the misquote doesn't make it correct.

The vast majority of moviegoers see them at regular ass resolution. If people could watch theatre movies at home, they would. Which is why the movie studios don't allow that.

Most movie theaters use Sony Digital 4k projectors. Again get your facts straight

And why not give me positive feedback instead of telling me what is wrong.

Because the things that are wrong are the things that need to change. If you run a 5 star hotel and the lobby smells like piss, people aren't going to write Yelp reviews about the fine decor and speedy room service.

And working with people isn't for you if you can't take criticism.

There is a difference between criticism and cynicism. Explain why it would not work. Its not as simple as hey this will not work...accept what I say and do not respond or ask questions or even remotely try to defend your proposition.

How much sq ft of commercial space are you planning for this business? I'd recheck your cost assumptions. Rent, insurance, utilities, licensing fees, etc aren't going to be as low as you assume they're going to be. And those are just some of the costs to factor in.

I gave reasons, justifications, and examples but you were caught up in your "I'm a brilliant business virgin" tirade to listen.

This is true. I cannot get exact cost estimates because I am not sure exactly where I want to have it yet. But the location will depend on traffic and cost per sq ft. I have an idea of the revenue but not a complete picture of the costs. But I do have calculated estimates and I am not trying to deviate from them too much.

Tell that to a loan officer.

Lol this is factual. You are right to say that it is not in my favor to be younger and inexperienced, but I do have people who will put their names on this, all with really good credit. This will decrease my potential risk in the eyes of banks or investors or whatever have you.

They'd all look like shit because those games are designed with 1GB video memory in mind. Half of those aren't even DX11.

Isn't that the audience you're targeting?

How is this objective feedback? You are giving me your wholly biased opinion which is what I asked for but do not be surprised when I respond to stuff like this.

"Unless you charge a mint and have ultra high foot traffic, you're going to struggle to keep your head above water.

Better keep a few consoles around for Dance Central and Guitar Hero because that's all 90% of people will want to play."

I agreed with the first half of this but the latter half is purely opinion. I know more people who play on pc than people who play DC and GH. This is my subject to my experiences but it obviously differs from yours. If you are older and wiser than me then perhaps you should be more objective.

Then there was the comment about movie theater displays which was also wholly untrue.

I am considering opening up a pc gaming lounge in NYC. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts on this are. I would use UHD monitors and high end gaming desktops. I would also offer the ability to use mods and if possible the ability for people to save their games to a server.

Thread recap:

OP starts threads asking people's thoughts.
People provide thoughts.
OP throws hissy-fit at thoughts, telling the very people he asked opinions from that they are wrong.
