Thank you all for your opinions on the situation. I have reconsidered doing in this city. Maybe I can do it elsewhere but not there. I only wanted to know what people thought about it and you guys get all up in arms when I argue with you about your opinion. An opinion is just that.. and opinion. My message to everyone is that you have to believe in yourself because no one else will. The level of cynicism in this thread (by that I mean comments that go beyond my initial question and attack me personally) is insane. I came up with this and various other business models irrespective of my level of education or whatever else you guys believe. The truth is that some day I believe I will find a way to make this work, maybe not in the city but somewhere. I will definitely consider adding other features mentioned in the article. I already had food in mind and ftr this is targeted at middle to upper middle class kids who occupy a substantial portion of nyc. Thanks again and God bless.
It isn't that people didn't believe in YOU, they didn't believe in the idea. You shouldn't take it personally.
FWIW, a few years ago, there was a LAN gaming center in my town (a suburb of Indy with a population of around 20K at the time). They had PC LAN gaming available (they had systems or you could bring your own) and also had Xbox and PS tournaments as well. I had a friend who used to go all the time but even with all of that, it didn't last much longer than a year. 10 or 15 years ago, it probably would've worked but with the availability of cheap bandwidth and relatively inexpensive but powerful systems these days, it just won't work without lots of extras like others have pointed out.
