This documentary I am sharing here is probably the perfect documentary, that shows how Trump was almost an authoritarian leader of the Republican Party, and how close he was to collapsing the American Democracy. It shows interviews with white house news reporters and others. It even shows interview clips with people who even worked with Trump, and how they say they felt as if they had only two choices when Trump was in office, either to work with Trump or to quit their job. Even Rudy is interviewed in the documentary, and talks about a dark side of Trump. It's quite surprising that there were this many members of the Republican Party that knew Trump was doing something completely wrong, but they were too powerless to do anything about it.

I highly suggest that people view this PBS frontline video that I am sharing.

Thats not even close to perfect.
A perfect documentary is cold, impartial, objective, and just lays out the facts.
You are supposed to document the facts.
Thats why they call it a documentary.
In theory it should provide solid reliable information for years to come.
That thing is clearly biased and trying to push an agenda. Yes, we all know Donald is a piece of shit, but if you wanna make your point you have to be smart about it.

Its not as bad as a Dinesh Dzouza documentary, or Michael Moore, but it aint good.

It's selling to their market, that's what journalism is.

Did you ever stop to wonder if the premise is flawed?

Your comment assumes American Democracy did not already collapse. Yes, we have the semblance of function, but that is just a performative show. The warm and alluring dream of normalcy you cling to is just a lie. In truth, winning an election still renders the victor powerless and the voters voiceless. Meaningful change cannot peacefully occur within the remains of American "Democracy". And as we cannot enact change, neither can we adapt to overcome challenges. This stagnation will lead to rot, decay, and eventually death.

To say nothing of a good portion of the nation that just wants to be rid of the other half. You were onto something when you mentioned how Republican leaders knew and accepted Trump. It is so much bigger than just one man.

Uh, I saw that Frontline episode and it was pretty tight. Not sure what you're smoking by comparing it to Dzouza hashpipe nonsense.

Still, there's a point in that we really are still close to those events, and the complexity of really this entire resurgence of chronic white nationalism in this country, that history just isn't complete yet.

journalism has to be pretty could right now, and that is the standard. For the daily stuff. The news as we see it. It takes pockets of years for these things to all come together with a more perfect understanding. So, yeah there's going to be a story told up there, based on the known facts at the time. But so close in to major events, it's like people being angry at you for failing to predict Hitler's eventual moves in 1941, based on all the information you had gathered and reported on about his invasion of Poland in 1939, written down about 5 months after that.

Trump had a huge ego and exaggerated a lot, but he was far from a tyrant. Sorry but I don't buy it. Liberals have been trained like Pavlov's Dog to get angry at the mention of Trump over the last four years, and this is nothing but a chance to cash in on that.

I mean, nothing screams, "I'm a bloody tyrant!" more than good economic performance, low gas prices, no new wars, three actual peace deals with Israel (and more to come), a vaccine created through working with market forces, and secure borders. What a blood tyrant, geez.

So you support his actions to fake the election results to his advantage? You support the weakened alliances with western nations while him cozying up to Putin and the like?

Let me translate that for you: "Trump was a piece of shit, but here's all the falsities I'm going to excuse it for, because reasons and tribalism."

A new ass in the P&N clownmobile, lol.

The fellow expressed an opinion, and briefly explained why he held that opinion. You decided the correct response was an attack, then claimed he was an ass.

There is without doubt an ass in this equation, but ventanni isn't it.

I think attempting to overthrow the republic is the act of a tyrant. Can you explain why you disagree?

No it isn't. Everyone knew he was a garbage human being before he took the nomination, and then they just fell in line because "ya gotta support the team!"
You can find plenty of interviews before he got the candidacy where Republicans were giving their actual opinion of him.
They could have done things to oppose his behavior, and in some cases, they did. Largely they took as much advantage of it as they could.

If I got a nickel every time politicians accused each other of faking elections and stealing results, I wouldn't be posting here. I'd be sipping margaritas on my beach house, gawking at my multi-billion dollar bank account. Regarding Putin, I didn't see him make any moves against his neighbors during Trump's presidency. I didn't see captain My-Button-Doesn't-Work rattle his sabre, either, but I did see Putin make moves during Obama and now Biden. You can claim that was because Putin was happily sitting on the sidelines watching NATO fall apart, but...

As for Europe, the United States doesn't have the money to defend the world any more. That was true back in the 50's when the American GDP was astronomically huge compared to the rest of the world, but it's not anymore. We're still the strongest economy on the globe, but we're not the only player. Perhaps Trump wasn't the man to renegotiate our trade deals, but he was right to question it. The European Union is a $21.5T (PPP) economy. Why are we defending it? It can defend itself.

You guys need to start looking at the fruit of these administrations rather than listening to the news all the time. CNN, CBS, Fox... they're all garbage.

I'm not sure Trump didn't succeed, given the behavior of the republican party. It takes a long time to collapse, but the foundation has been compromised.

I didn't even bother with the rest. Fuck off.
Look they all refuse to concede, file five dozen frivolous lawsuits, threaten election officials who won’t falsify results for them, submit fraudulent electors, try and have the Vice President unilaterally overthrow the results, and then incite their supporters to attack the Capitol. The fact that you only complained about it now shows how biased you are against Trump.

I am very smart and enlightened.

Putin and Trump are gay for each other (not that I care, just saying). Of course he wouldn't do anything during his term to harm him. But he would during a Dems term to cause some chaos.

Yeah agreed. He’s a waste of time. Added to ignore list
If I got a nickel every time politicians accused each other of faking elections and stealing results,
He is a fast becoming a candidate for the ignore list...

Besides his spelling is awful, "republicans" is spelled "republicans", not politicians.
