He also doesn?t like other Gays. Most his "partners" have been bi or actually straight.

How the hell does that work? The gay+bisexual thing I guess is possible. But a gay+straight? Now that just doesn't make sense to me.

You don't have to be gay to have homosexual intercourse.

But... if a guy was straight, why would he want to? Ah nevermind, I don't think I want to know.

Maybe he has been with straight women.........

Probably he see his homosexuallity like some punishment from God or some kind of trial he has to go through before he can be a true christian. And that include voting for Bush and vote republican.

Not to make a book out of this, I got my first call from my Gay Republican friend (in San Diego) last night since the election. He?s Gay, and very Republican. To me, that just don?t mix, but ???? He?s also VERY religious, like Jerry Falwell type (almost). That too, just don?t mix, but???
So I had to ask, ?why would a Gay person vote for Bush, love Republicans so much, and hate Kerry (Ted and Hillary) so much?? He claimed he doesn?t ?hate? any of them, but admitted he?d as soon eat nails and die before EVER voting for ANY Democrat, regardless.
So I wanted to understand him, and those Republicans that vote for Bush-like people and fear/hate Kerry-like people so. I really wanted to understand.
So after a long 3-hour talk, I think I kinda know.
First, he truly believes that the Bush?s are as religious as they say they are. And he truly believes Kerry is not, no matter what Kerry says (or more so, didn?t say).
He also truly thinks Kerry would raise taxes, absolutely and for sure. He also believes he himself got this big tax cut Bush tells everyone they got, even though my friend makes around $20,000 a year at tops.
He also truly believes Bush?s health care bill really helped most American?s. I pointed out that you have to almost be poverty stricken to qualify, and most elderly DO NOT qualify. He was silent, but never agreed either.
His main reasons for voting Bush, even though he?d never vote any Democrat anyway, was first 9/11. Second was the war, and last was Bush being anti abortion. Bringing up abortion really got his blood flowing, so I didn?t go there.
He also thinks Michael Moore, Al Franken are the devil. One bright light, he hates Rush also.
So to sum him up, he believes everything the Bush camp tells him. Believes everything the Bush camp says against Democrats, and truly believes Bush is doing God?s work an so he can do no wrong.
My conclusion, he needs serious professional help! He?s a lost cause. And, very sadly but truly a ?typical? Republican. Go figure?
(sorry for the book)

I don't see what you find so surprizing about the above statement that is bold, considering that if it said Kerry instead of Bush and Republicans instead of Democrats (the reference to God may also have to be removed) it would also be true for a lot of the Democrats on this board.

There should be a middle ground somewhere on some point that both Republicans and democrats can agree but what disturbes me is that I see very few people willing to really consider that the opposing party wasn't totally FUBAR.

I have no problem with favoring a party or their ideals, but I see far to many people that are blinded by their bias to the point that they have lost the ability to actually listen to the other side and think for themselves. The truely sad thing is that by making the above comment in bold there is a good chance neither of the of the people in that 3 hour conversation where really trying to understand the others point of view.

I can sum up your friends "talking points" in two words:

FOX NEWS

I think to qualify as 'news' you have to have some sort of impartiality. rofl. It's Fox Press Conference at the White House ... not fox news. Not at all. Much like Co-opted News Network ... rofl....Thank God I live in Canada. Come up here all you lucid-minded american brothers, come to the true land of the free!!

and guess what, you actually need a warrant here to be surveiled, as well, my goodness, due process and public proceedings to be tried or held in custody. rofl

oh and btw, our focus on the tools of murder is so light, that our submarines are 30+ years old and break down at sea, I mean, our military's main job is un peacekeeping, imagine that, peacekeeping for the military. Lovely.

Don't worry, Fox will soon be in Canada to infest you with their rare brand of horse manure.

were going to get canadianatized.

Yeah, you've said it before because debating the points made in the post are way beyond any intellect you might have on your best day.

Or..is your worthless comeback from page five of Limbaughs book "How to debate a liberal and win". Of course the key here as ALWAYS in Limbaughs case is to NOT debate a Liberal,he'd get his head handed back to him everytime. Funny how the king of talk radio has NEVER once participated in a real debate although he's been challanged many times.

You know, you libes keep throwing around the "everything the Bush camp tells" stuff. Get a Q-tip. Clean out your ears so you can hear clearly! Now listen! Most of us didn't listen to anything the Bush camp said. The one we listened to the most was the Kerry camp. We believed nothing they were telling us! The lies of the Kerry camp were so obvious that nothing else was needed! Where are the rest of his records - you know stuff like that!

Most repubs don't give a fvck about politics, the way they see it is repub=capitalism and God and demo=communism and evil.

It is all they know and they don't want to be bothered by facts.

Democracy is wasted on you.

Democracy is provided for you by us. I don't see many mention in these hallowed liberal halls of volunteering for anything except duty in an inner city soup kitchen.

Sorry, I don't own and have never read the book. I did read all three volumes of Gulag though. Much more enlightening reading, but a really slow go.
