This entire situation is utterly disgusting. Gone are the day where people are able to peacefully work to resolve issues. I'm still unable to fully take this all in. I wasn't aware of all the satellite and communications links that ran through the towers. As an American, I think of the Pentagon as a fortress that is symbolic of our nation's governmental and military prowess. One would think that with the advancements in technology, something like this would have been averted. Can anyone HONESTLY tell me that nobody had ANY idea that something like this was brewing?? The level of coordination required for such a dastardly attack would require MASSIVE amounts of communication - phone calls, e-mails, possibly even some sort of code.... According to a news article pulled from Reuter's on iWon:
"It is most likely the work of Islamic fundamentalists. Osama bin Laden warned three weeks ago that he would attack American interests in an unprecedented attack, a very big one," Atwan told Reuters.
"Personally, we received information that he planned very, very big attacks against American interests. We received several warnings like this. We did not take it so seriously, preferring to see what would happen before reporting it."
If the threat was made, who in their right minds would not have reported/investigated this allegation IMMEDIATELY to determine if it was true or not?? I don't want to turn this tragedy into a political dispute, but from the same article:

I used to think that 1 person's vote didn't matter... I, myself, was not a registered voter for this past election. I'm not saying that this may or may not have happened had Gore been elected, but I don't think something of this level would have occured had a political leader who reputation was established as being one of willingness to contribute to world peace. I blame this whole tragedy on the Bush administration and a neglegence in government intelligence.
This goes to show that the concept of a "superpower" exists no more. I would STRONGLY suggest that before little panzy Georgie goes launching missiles or declaring war, to PEACEFULLY determine who is responsible for this travesty and seek political reparations for this heinous crime. War is not going to solve this. Many people dismiss Nostradamus' predictions, but this incident could be the theoretical catalyst that would lend credence to the image of the male figure in the turban pushing the button.....
