The rig
Gigabyte K8NSP mobo (F13 bios)
AMD Sempron 2800+
768 PC 2100 (512 kingston / 256 crucial)
120 gig Maxtor Dimond Max Plus 8
Radeon 9800 Pro (r360 core flashed to XT)
SB Audigy 1
BenQ DVD-RW
MSI 48x CD-RW
431w Enermax Whisper
Windows XP Pro SP2
I used this rig with an asus a7n mobo and a 2400+ and I recently sold the 2400+ and used a mobo lying around (the gigabyte) and bought a Sempron 2800+ for it with the intent on some good overclocking. I loaded up windows fine and it boots great but after I install the nVidia chipset drivers windows freezes on the load screen and will not go into it. I can restart the comp and use the last good settings that worked and it boots up great. I can use the comp, do windows update, and it is even prime stable after about 4 hours but once the nVidia drivers get on there it will freeze every time on the windows loading screen. I tried buying a new mobo (Asus K8N) and the exact same problem is occuring. I even tried using a different 3d card (ATi 9600XT) and had the same problem. I know the hardware is fine becaus eit is prime stable and worked fine on the old mobo and proc setup. Something here is conflicting and I have no clue...
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions as this is starting to get annoying...
