LenSoClean

I got so sick of breaking my lenses (RGP's, & they're special order - I broke one Sunday & still haven't received the replacement, so I'm blind as hell) that I ordered one. Figured even if it didn't work worth crap it was only $50 & they do have the money back guarantee.

Saw a good review here which helped as well.

I only had one lens to clean, but I must say I'm impressed. Took it out of the cleaning solution, rinsed it off, & it felt like a brand new lens again. Even though I clean them religiously I was never getting them as clean as when they're new + I'd broken two of them. Now all I have to manage is getting them in & out of the machine without breaking them.

It is a bitch, but at least now I have a clue what's wrong with me. I got really sick of people assuming I was negligent, reckless, or both when it came to my driving record. Now I can see quite well, all things considered.

I got mine from DiscountContactLenses, it's actually $5 cheaper than from the manufacturer's site.

do you have to buy their solution??
(well it's pretty cheap anyway... but i'm just wondering if it's the same to use other solutions..)

I was under the impression that it came with a bottle, but what I ordered did not... Come to think of it maybe that's why it's $5 cheaper at the place I bought it, I think the manuf sells a bottle of their solution with it.

Since I didn't have any of theirs I just used my Lobob Optimum that I have been using. Worked just fine, though apparently more viscous solutions work better so I may try to order some of theirs when they actually have it in stock.

What kind of contacts do you wear viper?

The thing looks cool, but I wear disposable contacts so I don't really think it would be of much use to me.

less viscous solution work better?? i thought it's supposed to create bubbles to clean the lens? (my optometrist told me to use boston for hard contact.....and those are pretty viscous)....

Sorry, I was thinking backwards... More viscous works better. Plus I just discovered the store I bought it from also has the solution, though it's more expensive than the manuf. Ordered three bottles.

I wear rigid gas permeable lenses (RGP's).

It's supposed to work for disposables as well, so you might give it a try.

Use the plug on your drain, it is your friend.

I get them through Casey Eye Institute (part of OHSU), they order them from some supplier in Denver.

I'm tempted to call them up in a few weeks & tell them I broke another one, or lost both, or some BS story so I have a backup pair. Being without lenses for a week friggin' sucks. I'm not legal to drive without them, so losing a lens is a big deal. I figure the $40 (my 10% of the cost) would be worth it to have backups available to me.

phatstyl

Hell yes I use one! I would be up the proverbial sh!t creek if I didn't have a plunger to take them out, I haven't a clue as to removing them without it.

They're $400 a pair, insurance covers 90% of it. I pay $40 a pair.

what?? they didn't teach you that when you got your contacts??

you put two fingers - one on top of your eyelid and one below..... apply pressure, and you blink. The pressure you apply on both sides of the contact should seperate them a little from the eyeball and when you blink it'll come out.

It took me quite a few tries to actually learned it though .... and make sure that your contacts will pop out to a safe place (unlike what i did)

o and i think it only works for RGPs (hard contacts...) for soft ones you just remove them.

For those of us w/o the same prescription in each eye (mine differ by a slight margin), this wouldn't be as convinient, would it? (Sorry if i sounded harsh there, not intended ) It'd be nice tho.........I'm one of those people that never take their contacts out since I hate the hassle of washing them, even with that no-rub solution that's out now........and I'm sure it's far less a bother than those of you with hard contacts.

Oh well.......I'll think about it. Thanks either way Viper

I can only imagine what this "plunger" looks like. Do people with soft/disposable contact lenses use these things? I have never even heard of one. I gotta see this

/off to google to search

Plunger

They don't work with soft contacts, only RGP's.

They're a godsend though, taking contacts out with a plunger is EASY.

How I remove my RGP's is thusly:

Pull your eyelid to the side, so your looks like a slit (like steretypical asian eyes), then try to open your eye. This makes your eyelid go up past the top of the contact. Then try to close your eye. This pushes the contact down. For some reason, the bottom part of the contact comes loose as you're trying to close the eye. So as you keep closing your eye, the contact slips out. My contacts usually end up on my lower eye lashes, making losing a contact difficult.

My optometrist taught me that "pinching" method, but it was just too difficult for me.

Glad I don't have to use one of those :Q

They are very soft rubber, they stick easily to the contact & then you pull straight off your cornea.

Very easy & painless.
