"they're loud, they're obnoxious, they're disgusting, and they should get out of San Francisco." - Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco

Seems to me that for all the talk about tolerance and "free speech", this city sure seems to think they only have to be tolerant of speech they agree with.

I think having 25K people marching in San Franciso makes quite a statement considering the recent anti-war protest only managed to gather about 10K

While I may not agree with everything this group stands for, or any other group holding a rally in San Franciso - I do respect their right to march or protest to get their message out.

San Fransisco only wants protestors in line with the gay agenda. Too bad we can't let the city become part of canada.

Actually, SF does have Barry Bonds, so keep them.

Brainwashed children paid for by GOP shills turned little hitler youth are pretty disgusting.

"The author, host of the "Acquire the Fire TV" cable television program and a President Bush appointee to a federal anti-drug-abuse commission, wants teens to find Bible-based solutions for the spread of sexually transmitted disease, teen pregnancy, drug abuse and suicide."

That's just stupid, and it is disgusting. And I'm not talking about the federal appointment from Bush, which is merely a symptom of the ridiculous attitude of some towards real social problems.

I can give the Bible-based answers; 'don't do drugs', 'don't have sex until you're married (which wouldnt have reduced teen pregnancy in biblical times, btw), don't do drugs, and don't kill yourself (or you'll go to hell).'

They were tolerant. Nobody stopped them or interfered with their rights.

Got another false premise for us?

If this had been a gay rights rally, would their same words not have been met with furor and outrage?

Ah, so the measure of "tolerance" is not stopping someone? Great! That should stop just about any charge of "intolerance" we see here in P&N. Thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding of the word "tolerance" flavio. Much appreciated.

Mark Leno is not entitled to free speech? He didn't say the city should force them out, just that they should get out. In no way, shape or form did that even remotely infringe on their freedom of speech.

Where did I claim he infringed on their freedom of speech? Seems I didn't make that claim. Are there any other claims I didn't make that you want to take issue with?

It seems to me this is a non issue, and shades is just looking to pick a fight over nothing. Protesters weren't harrassed by riot police, no one threw anything, just other people disagreeing with battlecry.com

"no way, shape or form did that even remotely infringe on their freedom of speech." This is the strawman you set up to suggest that I claimed their right to free speech was infringed upon. No one has made the argument that anyone's speech was infringed upon.

Was there some large scale protest in San Francisco that experienced significantly more tolerance you're basing the "tolerant of speech they agree with" comment on?

It sure wasn't the anti-war protests.

And your OP was a strawman you set up to suggest that Mark Leno infringed on this group's freedom of speech, which he didn't. But I am glad we clarified that.

That was the strawman. Otherwise there was no reason to include "free speech" in your comment, if you weren't implying that someone's free speech rights were in some way infringed.

Senseamp, in San Francisco we realize we have to deal with sewage. But, we're allowed to say we don't like it. "Being tolerant" doesn't mean you have to agree with something and refrain from saying how absolutely stupid and repugnant it is.

Did you even read that sentence? Yes there was good reason to include that. That's their rally cry for everything, that and "tolerance". In this case in my OP(that sentence), the case was made against their intolerance - not that they were infringing on "free speech".
Any other twists and contortions you'd like to post?

A anonymous witness of these "battle cry rallies"

About a year ago one of my friends tricked me into going to the "Acquire the Fire" concert. They showed a video for "Battle Cry" the video showed men kissing other men and then in the background were guns and crosses. It also showed a group of teenagers walking in formation, almost exactly like the propaganda videos from the Hitler period. Another segment featured kids with green mohawks going to the alter to "ask for forgiveness" because they had piercings and tattoos. Everyone in the room was going crazy cheering except for me and my friend. When the leaders saw this they called us out in front of thousands of people. The entire program is a brainwashing mechanism.

This is why in a city of people chased out by intolerance of whatever redneck sh1thole they came from they take offense to little hitler youth marching up and down there streets preaching hate.

Word is out that these "Aquire the Fire" cultists are bad news.

Blatently trying to provoke people in a city who have a lot of their "enemy" and a known civil disobedience element (anarchists) into a confrontation using their own children as bait they know would rally a lot of christian winguts into a big mess for american culture.(IE: cultural civil war) It's just plain sick.
