Exactly. Many Americans are just not willing to work at minimum wage while they cash in their welfare checks and watch their fatasses grow.
All this "jobs Americans Don't want to do" is pure bullsh*t, and everyone knows it. True. most Americans don't want to work in the fields for the wages paid, nor in the horrible conditions farmworkers toil in, but go back just a couple of generations, and MANY white Americans followed the harvests, doing the work instead of the illegals. I certainly understand people wanting to better themselves, no matter what race or national origin, and we ALL want something better for our kids than what we had. That's normal. Illegal immigrants drive down the wages in many jobs, because they are:
1) willing to work for less
2)less likely to complain if they are screwed on wages
3)less likely to complain about, or file workers compensation claims for injuries
4)Less likely to complain or file claims for pesticide poisoning (relatively common)
We "spoiled" Americans tend to believe that we should be able to do a job, make a liveable wage for our labor, and do that job with little or no work hazards, and that if something happens, and we get hurt at work, we have workers compensation to take care of that.
YES, there are lazy slugs of all races, national origins, religions, etc, who would rather draw a welfare check than have to work. IMO, that COULD be fixed (in many cases) by setting up a Work-Fare program that requires them to work a certain number of hours each week if they want a check. Some states already have similar programs in place, but MOST need some kind of revamping to better accomodate workers and employers.
I'm one of those horrible "racist" bstards who think that the illegals (regardless of where they are from) should be gathered up and sent home. I don't care if they are Mexican, Irish, Russian, or even (gawd forbid) those nasty Canadians.
Let them apply for entry just like so many other people have to do. If we aren't going to enforce the laws already on the books, why have immigration laws in the first place? Just let anyone at all come and go as they please....(PLEASE check your sarcasm meter on that comment!)
The unemployment rate in this country is outrageous. MUCH higher than what is reported by the government, as it doesn't count those who have run out of unemployment benefits, or who have given up on finding "mainstream" employment.
Make the "crap jobs" pay a bit better, and more people will be willing to do them...
