A silly little video I created.

My friends and I went to Yosemite this past weekend.
There was a 90% chance of snow from 4 a.m. until about 2p.m.

We watched the forecast for 4 days leading up until Saturday, and everyday showed the same forecast.

We were incredibly excited about finally hitting Yosemite with fresh snow pack ( this marks my third trip in the last two months. )

Well... we got about two hours of rain from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. and then nothing.

The snow looked like crap ( a lot having been dispersed by rain ) and we were all dejected.

So, I played around with my phone and go-pro clone doing a few timelapses.

I've never really made "videos" before, and this attempt will bear that out...

Edit: Clarifying that the video is composed of the $59 GoPro clone and my smartphone Google Nexus 5x and my Nikon DSLR.
Edit: I don't always clearly identify which comes from what ( generally, all the video is from the GoPro, all the timelapse from Nexus 5x, all the stills from Nikon or GoPro)

Some of the raw images
Early in the park, I spotted a Bald Eagle. My two months of chasing the single bird around home helped me notice this bird real quick. He was wet from the rain.

Endemic of the day- shit sky, shit snow. Taken with my Oly OMD

This is just when we arrived in valley, around 7 a.m. Cold, wet, dark.
Nikon sensors doing the impossible.

El Capitan

One day I will manage the perfect sky/cloud + light + snow "Half Dome" shot

Bridal Falls - I had literally time for about 3 shots - the mist was so strong my front element got soaked almost immediately

A $59 go pro knock off? Looked good.

Honestly, that was a bit of a torture test for the GoPro knockoff - totally overcast, super high dynamic range everywhere I looked.

The thing has a screen on it and wi-fi that works incredibly well.
It's a lot of camera for $59.

1080p @ 30, the unit shows 5:33:15
720p @ 60 (the only other option), the unit shows 6:01:41

Thanks, Mike!

Hows the battery life, will it last a few hours or can i take it the full 6 hours @ 720p60? Does it do full length recording or break it up into 10 minute files?

I'm curious because I have an event this weekend I'd love to try one out at, but I want something to set and forget and not have to babysit it...

I haven't played with it enough to answer any of your questions.
You might look at the Amazon link and see if anyone answered your questions.

I'm 99% confident you're not getting 6 hours out of the battery - probably more like 1.5
However, you can keep it plugged in for power -- maybe one of those USB powerbricks would help extend it to more like 3-4 hours?

That Sportcam is very cool. Thanks again for linking that for us! Looks like the price has driven up to $64 due to page hits? It's on my Amazon watchlist.

I can also see why GoPro cannot survive has a "hardware" company. These clones look amazing.

I hope I haven't been misleading with my video.
I really should have been more clear with it.

The video is composed of three things
1. Video from the $59 ( now $64 ) GoPro clone.
2. Timelapse from my Google Nexus 5x
3. Stills from my Nikon DSLR ( and a still or two from the $59 clone )

If the video looks crappy, or the image looks crappy, that's the GoPro.

If the image or timelapse looks good, that's likely the 5x or the Nikon.
