A small problem..I hope

I got an email from Asus about my A7N8X 1.4 version motherboard. It was concerning the 200mhz front bus speed as my comp is not stable there. They told me to set my Memory to a slower speed than the 200 mhz...I assume they meant to set it at 83%. "async" They did not mention "Timings" I did this and now the comp will not boot at all. I have restarted...Held down the end key ect..to no avail...any idea's?

Have you tried resetting the Cmos?

Clear the Cmos with a jumper on the mobo,it should be in your manual.

I thought you could reset the Cmos with the start button and the End key???

I followed the directions in the manual and have had NO success. Any other idea's?

asus has a nice feature in the board where if it doesn't POST after changing fsb/multiplier, it resets them to a really low default speed if you turn off the pc using the power button then power back on, so if it's still not working i don't know what's up. To clear cmos, unplug the comp from the wall, take out the battery, and change the jumper for about a minute or so, it's worked for me. I have the same 1.4 revision of the a7n8x deluxe and cannot get past a FSB of 184, and have tried everything short of reducing ram speed below 100%, but making ram asynchronous to the system clock is a bad idea and kills performance.

I will let it sit longer and see what happens...also..I was aware of the loss of performance..but they said to try it. I guess they wanted to eliminate the RAM as the limiter for the fsb problem.

i tried setting mine to fsb 200 and ram 83% (166mhz ram) and it would not post, maybe doesn't like asynchronous settings that high. Turned it off and back on and was able to get back into bios and change it back to defaults though

Nope no go...I let it sit overnight to clear the Cmos and still will not boot.
