Go smoke somewhere where the stale second hand smoke doesn't get pulled into the building where your security guard friend is forced to smell it because he is stuck behind a desk making half what you make at 3 times your age.

Actually, he doesn't smell a thing since we have to leave the premises to light up. Company policy at my site.

Just take your last drag and hold it until you walk in the door. The let it out while facing him and say something about how nice it is outside.

I have never been addicted to anything, so I don't really know what it is like, to not be able to quit.

I don't believe anyone wants to be addicted to it. But that's what keeps you going. Not you, but the addiction.
I'm not saying I am right and you are wrong with this. I've seen what it can do. It's sad.

No, I dont remember what life was like before being a smoker. I started early and have been smoking for 30 years. I am definately addicted, yes... but I also enjoy smoking. I like the taste, I like the smell, I like the feeling. To be honest, I KNOW I should quit. I would like to be able to quit... I am terrified by it though, for a few reasons. I am addicted and while trying to quit in the past, I have failed and it was physically and emotionaly painful. I would not know me as a non smoker. I am afraid of failing. I am afraid that the physical and emotional pain of my previous attempts will never go away. I would not know how to NOT be a smoker, it has been part of who I am for most of my life.

This might seem silly to a lot of people, hellfire, it seems silly when I read it... but I am being honest.

if you're worried about the withdrawal, just use nicorette or something. there shouldn't be any physical or emotional pain if you follow the program.

I think this might be it too....I have always wondered why people with a smoking addiction deserve constant breaks all day long at work to feed said addiction while the rest of the people have to WORK the same job but do more work.

If you want help quitting just ask, a few of us here have quit really big habits. Toward the end ~2 years ago I was puffing 2 packs a day, sometimes more.

It's not the security guard's job to comment on how many breaks he takes, how long he takes them, or what he does on those breaks. He needs to either STFU or discreetly (sp?) notify management of his concerns and then STFU.

At my work I put a metal bar across the door to my office . When I would get the urge to smoke , I would hang from the bar and pump my buttocks untill the urge went away to smoke . After about two weeks , I stoped smoking !!

That doesn't sound too bad. People give me sheit all the time, and when they do I usually light up out of spite.

Maybe he's just being friendly, or in an irritating way trying to do you a favor. Dunno, would have to be there and hear the tone and see the body language.
