Do you mean Sansa?

No, I mean Arya. Based on what I remember the book speculation was that Brienne's last word may have been "Sansa" or something like that, and that's why Lady Stoneheart spared her. But in the books Brienne and Pod never explicitly met Hot Pie (that I remember). I was speculating that the show's portrayal of the Hot Pie meeting, and the knowledge that Arya was still alive, may have been what spared Brienne; that knowledge of Arya saved her life since, 'til that point, nobody knew she was alive (and hence why the Jeyne Poole ruse was supposed to work).

Theres no difference btwn the book/tv about the possible word - Arya.
AFFC said that Brienne/Pod found out that the girl travelling with the hound was Arya.

Just watched it last night.

The scene between Oberyn and Tyrion was great. Loved to see Lyssa fly. Best episode yet.

Is that how Rorge died in the books? I thought he bit Brienne not the Hound. I also thought Rorge was the one wearing the hounds helmet after he fell from the fight at the tavern.

We may just see the Hound find peace without Arya leaving him for dead? As has been stated before, the "reveals" about Arstan Whitebeard has to be avoided due to television being obvious, the same might go for the hinting that the new silent monk is the Hound. I wonder how the television version will play out.

There's quite a bit of ground to cover in these last 3 episodes:

- Tyrion's trial by combat, and what happens after is an entire episode (8)
- Jon has to lead the defense of the wall, and earn his stripes - if they dont cut corners, that should be pretty much all of episode 9.
- Trial of Jon Snow as traitor by Alliser Thorne & Janos Slynt
- Alliser sends Jon to "parlay" (kill) Mance
- Stannis saves the day
- Stannis offers Jon Winterfell, Jon refuses and is elected Lord Commander
- Hound's wound gets badly infected and Arya leaves him on death bed
- Arya pays for passage to Braavos with her coin from Jaqen H'gar

Those last 6 things would also easily take up an episode.

Did I leave anything out?

Edit - I just saw the episode titles. It seems like 8 & 9 will likely focus on what I said, but they may condense some of the Wall stuff from my sketch of episode 10 into #9, which means they are going to do a cut rate battle again. Damnit. That battle is one of the best ones in the series and is crucial to establishing Jon.

Episode 10 is called "the Children", which suggests it will focus on Bran. Ugh. Please dont skimp on the events at the Wall to do an entire episode on that. Yuck.

Jorah has to be found out and exiled. I'm sure something between Yunkai and Daario at command.

Right - i thought that happened in ADWD.

I just read some more about episodes 9 & 10. 10 is gonna run 66 minutes, the longest episode so far of the show. I hope that means it wont just be about Bran and they will wind up all of the stories. It would make sense: Jon becomes LC, Arya to Braavos, Jorah gets the boot...

I really want a properly done battle for the Wall. The guy who directed the Blackwater Bay episode is gonna do that episode. The actual fight scenes in BB episode were meh (minus the pyrotechnics). You guys know what happens and all the freaks Mance has... I hope he does it justice.

I understand the Bran parts will probably pay back dividends in later books when he figures out how to warg into dragons or something, but they're just boring as hell now.

And I'll say again they should have switched out the actor for someone younger. Maybe the kid playing Rickon since no one remembers him anyway.

"The Children" will be the prominent theme throughout the episode, but that doesn't mean it will just be about Bran. He will probably meet the children of the forest. Tywin will be killed by his child (Tyrion). Drogon will murder a child, and Dany will end up locking up her children (the dragons). Lady Stoneheart will be revealed, and she wants revenge for her children, etc.

they don't necessarily have to cram all that stuff into the next 3 episodes.

it would surprise me if they didn't want to start stretching shit out to give GRRM more time to finish the damn story.

I thought Bran looking through the eyes of the godswood into the past was interesting. Tree warging was awesome. You didn't like?

Nope. The only thing I hate more than watching the Bran story was reading it. He should have just froze to death and saved us all the extra chapters. Who cares if he ends up defeating the White Walkers.

Bran has like 4 chapters between AFFC and ADWD

And they are painful. Hopefully, he gets like 4 scenes between now and when season 7 ends.

Almost all the chapters of the last two books are painful. I'd rather read about Bran than more Dany. Watching people speculate about her storyline "I hope it gets better" in the other thread is funny and sad. I really hope they do something different with it in the show but so far the show's version of Dany's storyline is as bad as the books or worse.

From the sounds of it, nobody actually likes the books for what they are, they like the books for tiny pieces of it, and the lore behind the fantasy.

It's weird that you can put the book down after finishing it, and say you liked it, but enjoyed reading very little of it.

I really liked the first 2-3 books, it's just the last two that really sucked.

ADWD was a painful experience. If that my introduction to the series, I wouldn't like it. The fact he spit it up in a strange way (why not continue in the same format and just do it chronologically?) and the fact that a lot of the stories kind of grinded to a halt just makes it not a great read.

I just can't agree. Sure, AFFC was slower than the rest, but I enjoyed Brienne's POV and watching Cersei further devolve into such a depraved bitch. ADWD was loaded with important events. Are you guys just not interested in Essos or Dorne? Arya in Braavos?

Really, the only bits I didn't care much about was the Kingsmoot on the Iron Islands and Dany's quagmire.
