The only thing I didn't like was they were too subtle was if the spear was poisoned or not.

It was obvious the spear was poisoned in the books. You also knew that the poison was slowing down the mountain. I believe he was stabbed in the show as well as the books near the armpit, and that wound was slowing him down, leading the the hamstringing, and the spear in the gut. The show you just figured he was outmatched.

I was disappointed with the fight. You didn't get the impression the mountain had any skill other than the strength to carry that big sword. Also the spear acrobatics didn't do much for me.

I'm thinking of well choreographed fight scenes, and book of eli comes to mind, after searching for the choreographer, Jeff Imada doesn't seem that appropriate, but it left me wanting.

I'm guessing the kid wiping the blade was rubbing poison on the spear. But unless you paid close attention (I think) during the trial where it was mentioned Oberyn was skilled with poisons (or was it mentioned even before that?), I don't think TV watchers would make the connection.

I wasn't really disappointed with the fight. I didn't get the impression from the books that the Mountain was a particularly amazing fighter. Sure he was quicker and better than you'd expect, but mostly he was a hulking mass of a man who could easily wear heavy full plate to protect him and carry a two-handed sword like it was a twig. Nowhere as skilled as the better fighters in the realm. I seem to remember reading that he was huffing and puffing, getting frustrated with Oberyn's dancing about.

He was getting tired from the poison (before Oberyn hamstrung and stabbed him in the gut). Which, in the show, he got nicked early in the fight. I was okay with the choreography, because I knew the was using a poison, but non book readers wouldn't know that.

I just hope the impending agony of the poison is done well in the show so we can feel like Oberyn got the justice he deserved.

He also did an adaptation of the ToJ scene which was remembered by Ned in a fevered dream flashback when he was in prison.

It was when he finally found his sister whom Robert Baratheon "loved". It could still be in the series because Jojen and Meera's father was there and also survived. Given the stories they tell Bran in the book it's possible their father told them what happened there.
