Just because Varys got on the ship, doesn't mean he can't come back to kill Kevan. That happens a long time after Tyrion escapes.

yeah varys disappears only to pop in at the end and kill kevan. him going with tyrion would a) explain his absence b) provide another familiar character in pentos (is anyone going to remember illyrio and his 30 seconds of screen time from 5 years ago by next season?)

i bet varys goes to the rhoyne with tyrion rather than illyrio.

That Brienne v. hound fight just seemed completely out of place. It would have been better if the hound went down fighting a group coming to take arya away instead of the person trying to save her... Since he's on his little redemption journey.

So... Jojen's dead in the show but not the books. I guess that mean's he serves no more purpose...

I really disliked they removed Tyrion and Jaime's confessions (that Tyrion's wife wasn't actually a whore and Tyrion lying confessing he killed Joff). Also, Coldhands is pretty much a worthless book character now. We know nothing of important can come from him, as he was entirely left out of the show.

3eyed crow looked absolutely terrible IMO. Looks absolutely nothing like the book description. Just odd line also from him, "watch you with 1000 eyes and one" when he clearly had TWO eyes in the show!? Couldn't come up with a prostetic to go over one eye?

And the fireballs? Bleh.

Yeah. I mean, he's basically ten breaths away from dead in the books too though. So I'm not too concerned.

However, the same can be said of Gendry. Since he's filling Edric Storm's role, I'd guess that implies he'll have no real role with the BWoB in the books...

Pyp and Grenn are both dead now in the show as well. Coldhands was never even introduced.

I hate being able to draw these sorts of assumptions. They're spoilers.

I thought last we saw in the show Gendry was rowing back to Westeros proper from Dragonstone. Seems like he could easily wind up doing something important still.

Yeah, the scene was alright, but could have been so much better sticking more to the book. Doing the Tysha reveal and "Wherever whores go" should have been Twin's last line.

Yep. I've been waiting for this since Bran left Winterfell, and we get this guy that looks pretty old. I was expecting something more like.

They should've completely written out the little fight before the cave and used the money to do three eyes right.

I was pretty sure he was supposed to be rowing across the Narrow Sea to Essos. You could be right though.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with season 5 onward. There is still quite a bit of Jon storyline to tell, along with some Stannis, Mance, Roose, Theon, and Asha. Arya has quite a bit of story to go. Tyrion has a lot of story left, as does Daenaerys. Oh, and Sam as well. Don't forget the Onion Knight and Cersei as well.

Bran's story is pretty much caught up to the books at this point. So are Brienne's and Sansa's. As are the Hound's and the Mountain's.

There is a lot of story to tell in Dorne.

It really seems like one of three things need to happen:
1. They plug along with all characters, spoiling the books for the few that are caught up;
2. They plug along with all characters, filling in the gaps of the ones that are caught up with the tedium of the few things they have left (pissing off a bunch of people because they are showing the "boring" stuff); or
3. Basically ignore the caught up characters for at least one season, maybe more, until everyone else gets closer to their book 5 resolutions.

Was pretty weak on that one from what I expected, just that one scene.

Now we get to sit 9 months

I liked the finale over all myself, my wife was kinda like, "thats it? "

But she salivates all over the show and wanted more, I thought they packed a lot in there, I looked at her and asked "how much more ya want" he he.

Wasn't there something different with his right eye in the show, or was it just the camera angle?

I would have loved that.

But it really tore my heart out when Tyrion lied about Joffrey to Jaime. Jaime was crushed, and I was crushed for him.

Jojen might be dead in the books too. The theory is that the COTF sacrificed him and fed him to bran in his wierwood paste.

I thought Jaime seemed like he didn't care much. He certainly loses his interest in Cercei.

I do agree 3eyed crow was terrible. I always thought he was grown into the tree, not just some old fuck sitting on a stump. =(

“You poor stupid blind crippled fool. Must I spell every little thing out for you? Very well. Cersei is a lying whore, she’s been fucking Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and probably Moon Boy for all I know. And I am the monster they all say I am. Yes, I killed your vile son.” He made himself grin. It must have been a hideous sight to see, there in the torchlit gloom.
Jaime turned without a word and walked away.

I guess the idea is that this enrages Tyrion so much that he goes scorched earth and decides to hurt Jaime as well as everybody else on his escape. I am assuming that Jaime is hurt.

Ideally I would have preferred it if Jaime never asked if Tyrion poisoned Joffrey to avoid prompting Tyrion's outlash.

Leaving that out of the show though really shallows out the tragedy that Tyrion is going through. Yes there is still the betrayal of Shae, and him killing her for it, but then when he kills his father, instead of it being about Tysha, and really the whole course of his life with whores being a cruel punishment by his father. It's about Shae and the fact that his father is fucking her? Very weak.

Can someone tell me where Arya and Tyrion is headed? What happens to them in the new land?

In retrospect I think the question shows an important part of Jaime's character: He helped free Tyrion even though there were nagging doubts about his innocence. Tyrion has always been Jaime's brother, and Jaime has defended him through thick and thin. Joffrey was Jaime's son but he was never really his son; there wasn't a real emotional connection.

This question basically shows that Jaime loved Tyrion more than he loved Joffrey. The aftermath, that Jaime focuses on Tyrion's claim that Cersei was "having relations" with other people, seems to affect him more that Joffrey's death or Tyrion's confession.

Really shows that Jaime had no connection to his kid(s?).
