<< I'm sick of todays games. They are all suck! I still find myself spending more time playing old NES/SNES games (with emulators of course). I honestly think 3D was a BIG mistake. As soon as the N64 came out, that was it for me and Nintendo (though I do like the Gameboy Advance). I love 2D side scroller games! Anyone else feel this way? >>
Sure. I think that 3D was basically one of those huge technological advances that got taken too far too fast. As soon as PS and N64 came out, people were thinking that it was stupid to make anything 2D anymore, that 3D was how every game from then on should be made. But I think that there's at least a small part of the game-making community (Konami at least) that recognizes that 2D games can still be great. I don't think that anyone would disagree that Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was an incredible game for the PlayStation. And more recently they (re-)released Castlevania: Chronicles. In the interview on C:C, the producer (I forgot his name) said that they were working on bringing more of the good old 2D side-scroller games back in revamped form on new platforms.
I haven't been able to finish a Final Fantasy game since they moved to 3D with FFVII. The games just don't hold me like they used to. And I'm busier than I was when I was young
