A surprise to no one, the famous anti-abortion girl was a paid shill.

Sad she waited this long to come forward. What I am saying, sad she did it in the first place.

I don’t think she’s the first person, nor the last, to espouse a public policy based on false pretenses.

I wonder what kind of payday she received for the act. I also give her credit for staying bought, she made a deal and stuck to it.

Nice to see the "pro-life" theater is still falling apart. I suppose the cult members will ignore this, like they did when the fervent evangelical minister Rob Schenck tried to help them extract their heads. Quite an interview/book. Some of the stories he tells, particularly about dismembered baby parts in ziplocks being smuggled around and used to shock and disgust people, really show these hypcritical assholes to be even more nuts than we thought.

I remember posting this hoping Atreus and other anti-choice posters could muster up enough courage to consider it, but of course they all ran from it.

It's an eye opening interview, done by Terry Gross Evangelical minister gets it, realizes this whole thing isn't very christian

I respect the view of pro life people on premise. I believe in choice during the first trimester at least, and after that it better be something medically related to do one from my standpoint. I don't demonize people though for sticking up for any life though.

I will also state I am definitely not a fan of those that allow free choice abortions up to time of birth though.

Prior to the early 1970s, Evangelicals had no position regarding Abortion. Their current position was not a Theological exercise, it was a Political one.
It's the same with guns and the politicization of the NRA from a gun safety and regulation organization to a pillar of the gun lobby. All of this was politicized with the evangelicals, by the GOP all at the same time, and it's no mystery why. You capture people that are conditioned by belief, to think uncritically, and weaponize them against the USA, and you end up where we are today.

Interesting. I saw a theater version of McCorvey's life, which I think was called "Roe," at the Berkeley Rep theater a couple years back. This was before this deathbed confession became known I guess? It portrays McCorvey as a courageous but ultimately very flawed individual. It suggests by the end that she was using the evangelicals for money. It portrays her constantly telling them that she's broke and needs money, and suggests that by the end the evangelicals kind of sensed from her that this had really always been about the money. Which is more or less compatible with what is apparently in this documentary.

While the evangelicals may have given her a script for public speeches, she seems to have privately convinced them that she believed in their cause. Meaning that she may well have taken advantage of them at least as much and they took advantage of her.

I think the dynamics of her relationship with the evangelicals, and specifically the money aspect, where known long before this as the play got all that without seeming to be aware of the confession.

I have to say that it's a bad idea to lionize a woman who sold out everything she believed in for lucre.

You don't have to, you just have to understand that their beliefs don't give them license to stalk, harass, assault or kill in their 'stickin up for life' fiction.

Agree generally. I've had 2 girlfriends who've had abortions. Both after having slept with men that they then realized would make terrible fathers and they didn't want to have a lasting tie to.

The first later regretted the abortion to the point that she got a tattoo marking the death of a fetus of unknown sex.

The second didn't consider it the taking of a life, as it was so early in conception.

Personally I respect the view of pro-life people, because in an ideal world girls/women would only sleep with boys/men who they would want to have babies with. But that's not the world we live in and there are other valid reasons to have an abortion (rape, incest, etc.) which makes me pro-choice.
