Well, I wouldn't brag so much about not being an honest person and telling the guy he's selling it grossly under value. I hope he didn't see you as somebody he could trust.

I have bought from him before btw, Samsung 850 EVO 2TB x2 of them, for stupid cheap price.
135.63 Euro each. From what i understand he is going Ryzen and he get's hardware cheap as product tester or whatever his profession was.

I haven't seen a single benchmark where the 5960x beats or ties the 1800x, so not really on par at all. 5960X also draws like 200+W when moderately overclocked. It's inferior in every possible way except it has more memory channels.

I said 1800x. Try again.

OP you would get a much faster processor for 300 EUR (slightly more than you are paying for this) if you waited and bought AMD. Also, better platform in general and lower power usage. Your may think this is a good deal now, but you also will be stuck on a high power usage, old platform with zero ability to upgrade. If you bought Ryzen 7 you could upgrade when Zen + and Zen ++ come out!

Ay but 250 Euro for all that? Is just no way to beat that imho. Once i OC that baby to 4.4GHz if lucky im sure i be happy enough for many years

It's a ripoff. You are stuck with crap old platform with worse performance than even a 1700X, and you are never able to upgrade even to high power usage intel offerings!

You got screwed OP.

Centrox I don't care about 1700x which is why I didn't say 1700x in my post. I said 1800x and in that case I was 100% accurate in that the 5960x is NOT on par at all. Not in one single solitary benchmark, and you can't prove otherwise. Also, FWIW, the 1700x still wins a vast majority of benchmarks and is generally a faster CPU also. The 5960x is more competition for the 1600X and it will probably lose badly when overclocked anyway.

You are joking, correct? that processor still sells for 800$. While an 1800x at stock may beat the 5960x at stock, once OC'd the game changes significantly. Plus he is getting the processor, motherboard, and ram for that price? that is approximately 1200$ worth of kit new. There is no way he could build an 1800x setup for that cash, and once OC'd as the 5960x is very capable of doing, it is unlikely that the 1800x would be able to compete anyways.

I wonder what happens to the resale value of all the Intel chips now, especially the HEDT ones. Also, OP, that is an amazing deal. I'd be happy with that.

At that price, I would buy one just to use as a space heater in the winter.

And occasionally run benchmarks versus the 1800X I have on the way.

Well you are wrong because if he got all that for 250 euro it is a very good deal.

That's the real reason to thank AMD - competition at the high end again, for the first time since Core 2 stomped all over AMD.

I remember the last time, when I was buying A64 X2's not because they were cheap, but because they were the better choice. Happy days are here again!
The price cut makes i3 absolute as i5s are 40 dollar more. Also all non k i7 are a bad deal.

But on a serious note, these cuts are not enough. Intel is still positioning a 4c8t against ryzen 6c12t; Intel 6c12t against ryzen 8c12t, i5 4c4t against ryzen 4c8t and a i3 2c4t against 4c4t ryzen.

Only thing it does is avoid a price war

He didn't get screwed, but he is limited somewhat by the platform. I suspect his new machine will go strong for another two years before the age really starts to show.
