Probably the same think I do with mine that's illegal in some states. No, it's not an age thing. You'd be surprised at what's illegal to do in the privacy of your own home with consenting adults.

I've had several cards both of ATI and Nvidia varieties, and they're all great except when you're the one that's having a gut wrenching problem.

Even if the guy isn't exactly a diplomat we should try a bit harder to focus on constructive advice and empathy for fellow users, because 99% of us have been in his shoes.

i have to disagree here though. i think the term 'gay' when used in this context has evolved beyond the point of actually referring to homosexual people. when fearofthenight says ati is 'gay', he is in no way implying that ati as a company prefers other companies of the same gender; that very idea is preposterous. 'gay' is in line with 'sucks', 'blows', 'lame', etc. i could see your getting upset if he were slandering a specific person or group of people who were, in fact, gay, but he is not doing this. so please save your ranting for those who actually deserve it, and unless i am one of those ppl, please do not attempt to undermine my right to express myself how i please.

As far as freedom of speech goes, I'm all for it. However; I'm exercising mine to say what he did was wrong. If he said ATI cards are "ni**er rigged" because they can't write a driver, it would be the same. He used someone's sexual preference as a perjorative adjective. The fact that little kids across the land have adopted "gAy" as a catch-all slam doesn't mean adults shouldn't point it out to them that it's wrong.

thats a very scary picture you paint, rollo, though i know that stuff like that does actually happen: a few years ago, david howard, head of the washington d.c. officeof public advocate, used the word "niggardly" while talking to colleagues about budgetary matters. I didn't say I condoned the action at the university either, I thought it was hyper-pc bs and was glad the ACLU overturned it.

Like I said, I don't deny he has the right to say whatever he wants about different races, sexual preferences, whatever. I'm not going to just read it and think to myself, "Ah, kids these days. Why do they need to publicly slander minority groups?" I'm going to exercise my freedom of speech to say,"Why don't you leave the minority group alone? gAy has nothing to do with VGAs, they don't deserve your slander, and your thread is ugly and mean spirited."

All drivers have bugs. They are pieces of software, written by human beings. There is no perfect software. NVIDIA cards are not totally absent of problems either. ATi has done an excellent job of squashing whatever bugs come to the surface. That is their job, and they are doing it well. I have not really had any problems, but I did suffer from the hang in the config screen in CS. However, I have FSAA disabled now, and it works fine. I play better with higher frames anyway.

Nah, I hear him. I have some close friends that are Gay and it's made me very aware of the crap they put up with. Besides the guy who started this thread is a tard... I mean if I played CS 99% of the time what the heck do I need a modern video card for? That thing runs on a frickin voodoo 2. Why he's not able to get this crap to work is a whole other issue.

I believe CS will play fine on a 4 year old nvidia card, as well as the latest one. Nvidia does not seem to discriminate on older games and keeps their cards fully backward compatable it seems.

I don't want him to get expelled, or even be politically correct. I just don't think it's right to denigrate minority groups in a public forum, and wanted to tell him that. If no one does, it's like condoning the attitude and saying it's socially acceptable. And all the gAy people who read this get to think no one really cares what people say about them, because they are somehow lesser people.
It's just not right, he's in college, he should be above slurs of this kind.
