Gosh I'm not nvidia fanboy. In fact both my main rigs have either a 9700 pro or a 9500 pro. I'd still say ATI sucks. If I could get the retail value of my vid cards I'd do it in a hearbeat. Freaking keeping me up w/ the gay stuttering problems making me go thru my bios trying to fix it. Then now this prob w/ CS. WAy to mess up the world's most popular game Ati. Grrr....

You obviously did something wrong. Try reinstalling drivers and whatnot. You have 2 awesome video cards. If you don't like it, go sell them and get a vacuum cleaner.... I mean a geforce fx. (despite what other people say geforce fx is a pretty decent card, not worth the price though)

I think then wait for next driver then. the thing i am angry with actually is their way to segment the market thru hardware specific driver. Some ppl successfully use the radeon 9800 driver on r9700 and get upto 10% increase in speed. this invariably make it seem like a modified driver would make r9700 almost as good as radeon 9800 but ati choose to segment the market and make it r9800 specific. same thing happen with my 8500 and the renamed 9100. the streaming function is only make possible if the bios of 9100 is detected while the 2 are essentially the same. I hope they can do as nVidia did which release a full tweaked driver without holding on the potential to make your flagship look better.
anyway just my thought after getting 8500 and 9500.

If he plays that ONE game 99.9% of the time, he's got a very good card that is useless 99.9% of the time.

Anyways, for those trying to make it look like its user error, all of the issues he's listed out are well-documented issues acknowledged by ATi. Maybe he could have expressed his dismay more tactfully, but that doesn't change the fact the 9700pro and Catalyst 1-in-4 drivers are far from perfect.

Nah, I hear him. I have some close friends that are Gay and it's made me very aware of the crap they put up with. Besides the guy who started this thread is a tard... I mean if I played CS 99% of the time what the heck do I need a modern video card for? That thing runs on a frickin voodoo 2. Why he's not able to get this crap to work is a whole other issue.

That's not the point. Many people still play CS religiously (I don't personally understand why myself), simply b/c they haven't found anything else that has pulled them away from it. The reason for buying a new card can be for many reasons, but when your existing card prohibits you from playing *new* games acceptably even though it plays your *favorite* game well, you'll be forced to keep playing the same game due to hardware limitations which then prohibits you from trying out newer games. When a new card doesn't play your existing *favorite* game(s) at the same level your old card performed, that's a problem.

The CS is issue is that when you are in ghost mode there is an occurence of seeing red everywhere. Also pressing esc to exit out of a server causes a lock that forces a reboot. This is from firingsquads catalyst 3.2 review:
