A Verizon 4G LTE phone in Europe

Hello!
I've just bought a Note 5 from Verizon in Best Buy today, for use in Europe (I'm from Belgium and they don't sell it there).
I chose Verizon because I've read they sell 4G phones unlocked, but after reading some more on gsm / lte bands today, I'm not sure anymore it will work on European networks. My carrier supports LTE band 3 (1800mhz).
Some posts on the internet suggest it won't, but www.willmyphonework.net says it will (I'm on the Belgian Proximus network). Phonescoop.com doesn't list band 3 (1800mhz) as being supported though...
Could anyone reassure me I can do GSM voice calls, and use both 3G and LTE data with it?

According to this your Note 5 will work in Belguim, but you would be limited to 3G data speeds.

Which is weird, since The Netherlands would work with 4G according to that site, while using the same 1800mhz band...

Look at the band numbers, not frequency.

(Eg, 700mhz refers to bands 12/13/17, not really cross compatible)

Verizon note 5 LTE band, but some might be disabled for various reasons (eg, some phones support band 2/4, but are disabled until Verizon deploys more band 2/4 cells. Could ask Verizon if 3 is enabled, but best would be a user confirming it)

13(700), 4(1700/2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 7(2600), LTE CA 13+4 (10+10)

If you want a good global phone, iPhone 6/6S is probably the best option. Next would be a nexus 6, then maybe a nexus 5/moto x pure/style?

I always prefer checking the manufacturers website because sometimes carriers purposely leave out bands (on their spec pages) that are supported by the device but not by their network.

Similar to the above poster, I see LTE: 13(700), 4(1700/2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 7(2600) listed on Samsung. So in theory, it should work barring any other restrictions.

Some people claim Verizon blocks certain lte bands they don't use however.

For the American visiting Europe, being a Verizon customer isn't too bad. If you can get a used Verizon phone for cheap, again, not too bad.

But for living there and needing the best support, (and if it was a phone only in the US at the moment), the AT&T and T-Mo versions would be better. Though, getting them SIM unlocked would be its own little hurdle.

Slightly off-topic: if all of our US carriers are dumping contracts, then that must mean they will be selling all of their phones unlocked, right? RIGHT?

Pretty sure Tmobile ones are unlocked, but I might be wrong.
