This guy obviously doesn't want help. He keeps making reference to his "$200 lesson" and doesn't really want to see his money back bad enough to try harder.

[Edit] If he's ever filled out the back of a FedEx door hanger thing then he put his signature on file and gave them authorization to do what they did. If not, then FedEx screwed up and he could get his money back.[/Edit]

Joint: Dood, is this a hot deal? No, therefore, it doesn't belong here. Sorry your feelings were so hurt and I was so rude. This guy can get his money back, he hasn't even tried. This shouldn't even be allowed due to the fact he hasn't even bothered to get his money back. Get a life if you are that worried about it.

actually it depends on your fedex carrier, mine requires me.
but then again fedex doesn't purchase insurance, only up to 100 is insured. and they are FOB shipping pt, meaning they not liable once it leaves their wherehouse.

Amex is pretty tricky... they cover everything, but not anything related to the shipping process. I don't know if that counts as part of the shipping process or not.

<< If you purchased the item with CityBank or AMEX credit card, you are fully insured.
Just call your credit card company and see what they say. Good luck.

Thats funny a friend of mine just ordered a Tbird and burner from Newegg. Fedex attempted delivery on Wednesday but DID NOT leave it because they DID require a signature and he wasn't home.

"No signature required - release waiver on file"

I signed a waiver AT the FedEx office for them to leave packages for me. I'm sure this is what they are referring to. I can't imagine you would be out the $200 dollars. If you complain enough you will be reimbursed.

For the love of god, if you're the consultant that you say you are, go find a solution to your problems instead of whining about accepting some "lesson". There's techies here who are at least 10 years your junior and make half as much as you do who can resolve a little situation with Fedex and the CC company.

When I ordered from newegg, they didnt deliver it because I wasn't home. You have to sign something to allow them to leave it(for fedex at least). Besides newegg and outpost, pretty much all my other online purchases are left at my door without signature required

That's what the comments box is for, because Fedex will do that unless you tell vendor " Do not leave package at door must sign for it ". Thats how you cover yourself and avoid headaches. Now its up to Newegg if they want to resend package. It going to take awhile for tracking & claiming loss with Fedex. It happen to me, it took 3 months to resolve w/ a different vendor.

When I got my MSI mb from them about a month ago, they left it also witout a sig, which is a.o.k with me.

My friend ordered a cpu from Onvia back in the good ole coupon days, UPS left it at the door, he came home, it was gone. He called them up and they overnighted a new one at no charge.
Good companies usually have good customer support, just give Newegg a call, I am sure they will handle it in the same manner as Onvia did.

The fact that the tracking page states that there is a waiver on file tells me that either someone who's lived in your apartment before signed a waiver or FedEx just messed up. It makes no sense that Newegg and FedEx have some sort of waiver setup, that would make Newegg liable for you not getting the package since you didn't request the waiver. The last two complexes I lived in, Fed Ex was the only one that wouldn't just leave the packages in the office(which annoyed me to no end). Now I live somewhere where they say they'll accept packages, but no one ever leaves them(could have something to do with the fact that both UPS and FedEx are right up the street). Good luck, hope it works out.

Strange, I received a package - well, 3 actually - from newegg and here's what my delivery record shows:

Delivered LOS ANGELES CA 05/11/2001 15:19 (Signed for by xxx)
Delivery attempt LOS ANGELES CA 05/11/2001 09:25 Customer not available or Business closed

So they tried once in the morning and DID NOT leave the package, and got a signature later on in the day.

So Griotech, if you are the big-time consultant you say you are you shouldn't have a problem figuring out either you inadvertendly signed a waiver or FedEx messed up.

Personally I wouldn't trust a consultant who can't even orchestrate a simple delivery. Don't you have friends/neighbors who can accept the package for you? Or heck, deliver it to your workplace.

Cappsa,
I thought about that too, but on talking to the Fedex rep (and I spoke with three different reps over the space of 2 days) they claim that Newegg has the waiver. It has nothing to do with the person being shipped to. According to Fedex this puts the onus on Newegg.

From Newegg's terms page:
Title; Risk of Loss: NewEgg.com will arrange for shipment of ordered product(s) to the Customer, Free On Board (F.O.B.) shipping point, meaning title to the product(s) -- excepting software-- and risk of loss passes to the Customer upon delivery to the carrier. NewEgg.com reserves a purchase money security interest in the product(s) until its receipt of the full amount due. Customer agrees to allow NewEgg.com to sign appropriate documents on Customer's behalf to permit NewEgg.com to protect its purchase money security interest. Title to software will remain with the licensor(s). All software is provided subject to the license agreement of the software maker. Customer agrees to be bound by any software license agreement once the seal on the package is broken. NewEgg.com will advise Customer of estimated shipping dates, but NewEgg.com will, under no circumstances, be responsible for delays in delivery, and associated damages, due to events beyond its reasonable control, including without limitation, acts of God or public enemy, acts of federal, state or local government, fire, floods, civil disobedience, strikes, lockouts, and freight embargoes

Now all we got to do is figure it out?

Frankly I'm a little surprised at the personal attacks this thread has generated. I posted it to share information with others who may not be aware of this particular agreement betwen Newegg and Fedex, that's why I labeled this a WARNING. If it has upset you that much then why continue to post/read it?

I was under the impression that that's what this web page, and bulletin boards were all about, helping people. However it seems as if they serve to be the private playgrounds of certain members who'd rather pass judgement on a person's character, career choice and living arrangements than share information.

If this thread has helped anyone else good luck to you and as always let the buyer beware.

Ciao,
Griotech

"civil disobedience"? Heck of a disclaimer they got there!

You guys need to lay off this guy. Just because it's not $1 off of a pack of Warcraft III doesn't mean it's not important.

The shipper can sign a waiver that negates the use of signature confirmation. This is true. The responsibility for the package then lies on THE SHIPPER, not you. It is not YOUR CHOICE.

If they DID NOT sign a waiver and require signature confirmation, and FedEx left the package anyway, the the responsibility for the lost package lies on FedEx.

FedEx is going to tell you tough cookies because the TRACKING says no signature required, but what about the actual airbill?

Where I work, UPS ends up paying for a lot of packages because we ALWAYS ship requiring a signature yet often the tracking states "left on porch". This puts UPS liable. If a customer INSISTS on delivering without signature, we have the customer fax a signed waiver to us and hold the customer liable if the package gets lost.

You NEED to call Newegg and find out why they would EVER ship a package without signature confirmation, IF that would ever happen in the first place. If they say they do not waiver signatures, then THEY need to contact FedEx and tell them they screwed up. THEY have to make the call, because right now it's just a he said she said game. I know you can't call long distance from work, but take a lunch break and find a phone.

As far as insurance: You're only covered for $100 unlewss you or Newegg paid extra for extra coverage.

All I know is that where I live, my UPS guy just kinda throws things down in front of my door(and doesn't ring the bell), but the FedEx guy always gets a signature for the packages, so I like FedEx better, not to mention its usually faster.

What I do is use a mail service and recieve virtually all my mail there. I'm out of town a lot so if something goes to my service there's always someone there to sign for it.
