A way to cheat in D2OL. :(

Well I was messing around with getting this linux client working. In doing so I did a few things and it then gave me 10 canidates! I even checked the stat server and it reported 10 new canidates..... I am of course not going to post how I did it. (Don't want some idiot lurker out there to actually do this). I am going to contact the D2OL support and see what they thing and if they want me to try again. Either way this is just a warning to not mess with the linux client to much your you might just mess it all up.

I don't think (and hope not) that people are cheating right now. I am not even sure the way I did it works every time becuase I don't want to try again. Err I hate cheaters.

Anyways it would take a time to do so unless someone just had all day to sit there I don't think anyone will do this.

Anyway, I hope the D2OL people get the alleged cheat fixed before it becomes something like the Berkeley people are dealing with now.

I think it's pretty cool of RemyCanad to point out the loophole/cheat to the D2OL support team.

The only type of cheating (if you want to call it that) I've noted with D2OL has to do with daily numbers. There is a Stats catagory called Top Nodes, where you can view the data overall, by week or by day. A NODE is assumed to be one computer using one ID number. If you run multiple boxes under one number then it looks like that "NODE" is a really fast one! The last time I looked my 2nd node, 12055, was 4th overall for the day!
