Meet the Carolina Pocosin Starfish.
The starfish lays it's eggs on cypress and tupelo hummocks in the freshwater pocosins of North Carolina's coastal low country. The young hatch and begin their journey to the open ocean, moving through the rivers and sounds to reach salt water. The starfish mature and live their adult lives in the ocean before returning to the pocosins to mate and lay their eggs.
