I find this "debate" quite interesting... although I generally don't jump into any of them. I'll be quick to say that I am a Christian, not that that matters, and point out that I commend qacwac for his/her zeal for the Lord... though I must also agree with Whitedog that overstepping our bounds as Christians (or whatever) to "correct" someone is not called for.

Speaking from a Christian point of view, I find that more often than not, when I am "pushing" my views, people are generally less responsive, but when I apply what my Lord Jesus says, "They will know you are Christians by your love"... (and that they will know Him by those who represent Him. I find that character is most important to sharing views and Truth.) ... they are more receptive to what I say.
Don't get me wrong... I believe 1) God loves all, but 2) all have sinned and 3) needs a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ... but saying things like "YOU are going to hell"... yadda yadda yadda is uncalled for, and blatantly offensive. There seems to be an obvious contradiction in what I say, but I submit to this thread, that speaking the truth does not necessarily need to sink to a personal attack to anyone.

To those who are Christians, I can just say continue being zealous in sharing your faith, but I think Jesus' primary concern is not in the legalistic areas of life, but rather in reconciliation and love. What is the value of truth if not spoken in love?

To those who are not, well, I am not here as a mediator, but rather as an ambassador, since I am a Christian... and all I will say is that, I have found peace and life through Jesus Christ, and I personally pray that you all do too, but if you guys are happy in the way that you are, I can not and will not denounce nor debase that opinion.

"Hate the sin, love the sinner" (Disclaimer: and no, this is NOT directed to any group in particular, nor is it directed to those that are not Christians, but rather to all. Sin is a hated word, but if we really sit down and think about it, there is a kernel of truth in that statement.)

Peace and grace to you all.

moonbeam, you should edit your post otherwise qacwac will correct your ways and tell you that by saying "you don't know nothing" you are actually saying that qacwac knows everything because of the light he/she has been blessed with.....think about it.....

I'm Typing;

<...I think, however, that for every 100 people on either side of this argument, there are may be one perched right on the fence. So people feel the need to spout off, and others feel the need to drag that one person off the fence...>

If people are not interested in being swayed by the particulars of an ensuing debate in the public square they are free never to enter it or, having entered, to leave it at any time. Construing that by voluntarily lingering anyone can be forced into a philosophic phase shift is ludicrous.

Different circumstance, different voice style.

Truth is dependant on frame of reference.

Reference frames are plentifully cheap.

The frame of reference is changable...and is not reliable to base truth.

The Words of God are Truth.

<< Your god is proven powerless against my will. >>

It is Written...I set before you life and death, blessing or cursing, you chose life and every seed you plant will live.

You are correct, because of the written commitment of God to honor the Words he has spoken, at all costs, he is powerless to enter your life, if it is against your will.

UG:

It is God's Will that mankind has a will. It is also determined that we have but a few millenia to exercise it, then the Final Choice will be manifested clearly for all to see.

By the Word, all things consist, including our wills. (Colossians 1:15-17)

"The Words of God are Truth."

Someone's getting a little too close to pushing his book onto others in the book store, in my opinion.

Not to mention, this is a thread about tolerance not the will of God.

I read that a saint makes the will of God his will

and the master is one who makes his will the will of God.

The prophet can do either.

Well, for accidentially hitting this thread, it has been rather interesting and thought provoking.

I've noticed within a society that values feelings (tollerance) higher than logic it is very hard to "logically" discuss almost anything. Yes, we all seem to have forms of "logic" wich, from my observations, tend to be a combination of how we interpret the world around us and our feelings. Logic is a process just as any other process, and if not learned and practiced correctly by all members will not yeild very compelling results. Topics like "Truth" and "Relativism" (lol, oxymoron) then bring about confusion. It is sad to see that so few have actually studied or have had classes on this strange concept "logic".

I love the statement "You will not argue someone to Christ". It's true, when it comes down to it, all logic and a good debate will do is remove the road blocks we all have that keep us secure to our beliefs and feelings.

It is exciting for me to see that these topics come up across forums like this one.

I whole hardedly agree with White Dog that "religion" bashing is useless. It creates arguments, and there is deffinately a difference between arguing and debating, however, just like the statement "there is a thin line between love and hate" there is a thin line that separates these two, and all must be careful to keep these in their proper places. lol, not that argueing <sp> ever has a proper place
