I don't think so. My 3200+ Clawhammer is around 48C under full load and I live in South Florida.

i tried a zalman CNPS 7000 Cu and i got the same temps, but i cant find the nipples that came with it so i dont think the CPU was making proper contact with the bottom of the HSf

Hey dude! I also have my new ASUS K8V Deluxe + AMD64 3000 + Gigabyte X800 Pro.

Here the deal, i own a Zalman CPNS7000A, under full load temperatures measure no more than 52 deg C.

But my idle temperatures are 42 deg C.

May be your casing has an airflow problem, but to me, i have a TT WinGO casing and despite its penta Cooling, the temperatures are still 2 deg C higher than if i would tun my system with casing open and i large fan ofcourse.

Dont worry, tell me your load temperatures.

I can tell you another wierd thing about the K8V, under overclocking, i did 2111 MHz and the temperatures now were less than 50C on Load.

hahaha

ok something is definately strange here, i ran prime and the CPU usage obviously went to 100% but the temps did not go up a single degree

Many of the first generation socket 754 motherboards seem like they have problems reading temperatures. I had to flash a new BIOS on my Abit KV8 so that it wouldn't read temps as 85C+. And I'm guessing their fix was to just subtract about 50 from the readings so that it would look right. Right now, I don't completely trust the temperature readings from any motherboard.

As a test, try booting after having the system off for several hours. Go straight into the BIOS and read the cpu temp. It should be quite low, a few degrees more than the system temperature. If you get something in the mid 40's or even 50's, you know something's probably not right.
