if i get this problem fixed, i am thinking of trying this overclock:

VCore 1.5v
Mem 1.7v

FSB 250x10 = 2.5GHz
HTT 4x
Memory Timings 2-2-2-5-2T @ 208MHz

then maybe try pushing it a little higher...
what do you think?

I would try resetting your BIOS using the clear CMOS jumper.

someone told me to use the +/- keys to adjust the HTT and that worked great!

i am now running at those speeds i was shooting for:

VCore 1.6v
Mem 2.7v

FSB 250x10 = 2.5GHz
HTT 4x
Memory Timings 2-2-2-5-2T @ 208MHz

i had to up the vcore to 1.6 in order to achieve those results
i may try to push it a little higher

i was hoping my memory could run at 500MHz, but i could only get the FSB up to 225 at 1:1 which kind of sux....i should have gotten the balistix memory i was originally going to buy.

EDIT: and my idle temp only went up 2 degrees! from 36 to 38

Yeah, you need to slap some TCCD memory in there; PDP has some for $110 (for 256MBx2) or $230 (512MBx2). eBay that Corsair!

on the A64 memory review on here, anantech concluded that OCZ 3200 Platinum Rev. 2 was the best for A64.

i JUST upgraded a few days ago....that sux i didnt spend the extra time to find out that my beloved corsair does not make very good ocing memory for A64 boards

Anandtech also reviewed GSkill and PQI Turbo, which are based on the same TCCD ICs as the OCZ EL Platinum; generally, most TCCD based memory overclocks well.

Matrix333: Where did you get your cpu/mobo? I am thinking about the same upgrade. What did you upgrade from and did you notice the difference?

i bought all my stuff from Newegg.com

i upgraded from this:
AthlonXP 2500+ Barton
Thermaltake Volcano 11+
2x256 Corsair XMS Platinum
ASUS A7N Deluxe
Radeon 9500Pro
Antec 400w PSU

without any overclocking on either my old or new setup here is how my benchmarks changed:

Aquamark3: 31,737 --> 60,734
3DMark2001: 12,505 --> 20,950
PCMark04: 3,289 --> 4,142
3DMark05: 1,730 --> 4,481
Doom3 Timedemo1: 46.2FPS --> 69.0FPS

btw, what would make a benchmark freeze for a few seconds in the middle of the benchmark...killing my score?

CPU?
Memory?
GFX (core or mem) ?

i dont think it is the GFX, because before I overclocked my CPU it worked fine at 400/1100

weird...i cant oc my GFX at all otherwise it keeps freezing in the benchmarks...

i updated my GFX firmware so it runs at 1.4v instead of 1.3v

do i need to up the agp voltage in the mobo bios as well?

i forgot to turn fastwrites off in the mobo bios after i reflashed my bios

so i got that off

now i can run it at 400/1100

with fastwrites on, i was able to complete aquamark3 ONE TIME without any hiccups and i got 69,658

with fastwrites off i can only get 67,788

Wait, I thought his first post said he has Corsair XMS XL, which would be TCCD!!!

You should try loosening up those timings, people have been able to run very high 1:1 htt/fsb with tccd mem. try like cas2.5 - 3 - 3 - 10...

Almost sounds like the new rig I'm building.. Waiting on my Tsunami case. Got my MSI Neo2 board and A64 3200+ .90nm from MonarchComputer. Man... they pack WAY better then Newegg on shipping. Plus you get free A64 case stickers with your cpu purchase! schweeet.
Let us know about your OC'ing results and tests/errors. Thanks!!!

i can run my ram at DDR500 speeds at 2.5-3-3-7-2T on all benchmarks
but while running Prime95 it always gets an error within the first 4 tests

same with 2.5-3-3-10-2T

i thought this stuff can run at DDR500 speeds at 2.5-3-3-7-2T according to the anandtech review

it runs Memtest just fine though...

HTT is at 4x250 = 1000 so that cant be the problem

so is it the processor? 2.5GHz @ 1.6v

So is the TCCD memory better then the BH-5 stuff? I am thinking of putting to gether a DFI NF3 overclockign rig.

Nevermind, according to this review at bittech, they answered my question. Saying that TCCD should be called BH-5's replacment. So I guess I will look for some TCCD basedmemory.
