Looking into this Zalman, I really like the design concept:

Zalman

Anyone care to comment on it or recommend one that "would smoke it"? Thanks much!

That would probably work well, but I would look for something with heatpipes. This is supposed to be a great heatsink (better be for the price). Stick a $10 Thermaltake SilentCat on it and it would be better than your Zalman, but also $20 more expensive. If you want a cheaper heatpipe solution, you could look at the Thermaltake SilentTower Heatpipe Cooler for $44 with the option to add another fan.

As I said, though, that Zalman is still a great HSF. If you want to use it, go for it. I think heatpipes would outperform it, but that doesn't mean it's not a great product.

If you want heatpipe solution, I would go with

THIS ONE

it's $10 more than TT copycat, but it gave me 4C lower temp and slightly lower noise level.
The only thing you have to watch out is the weight, dont' plan to UPS your system with this heatsink attached. It will kill your system for sure.

Pretty sure the XP-120 will become the supreme cooler once some benchmarks are released. Copper base and heatpipes with aluminum fins and accomodates a 120mm fan. Nothing should be able to compete with that for quiet cooling.

Interesting indeed... The fan is actually for a friend of mine. He ordered the OEM A64 3200+ not realizing it didn't come with HSF... Sounds like he's gonna get the Silent Tower, something I really enjoy the design of... But I'm certainly passing along all the info on the others as he makes up his mind. Thanks for all the good recommendations!

After doing some research, I'm going to have to second this vote for the Cooler Master Hyper 6. It's HUGE, but it apparently gives amazing cooling. It will also come out to be the same price as the Thermaltake if you stick the second fan on the Silent Tower. Overall, I think the Hyper 6 would be a better choice.

Yeah, I think you may be right. I'll definitely pass the recommendation along as I have been, but he seemed pretty set on that Silent Tower... Not that it'll make a lot of difference, I'm not sure he's gonna go too insane on his OC, but any performance difference is welcome!

Noise = /shrug, I have too many loud fans to tell.
I think the highest my cpu has gotten is 48ish... room was 35 I believe.

The heatsink itself looks very exotic, for those who care about asthetics.
