A64 is going slow!

K8N-E Deluxe
Athlon 64 3200 754
1 GB Geil PC 3200
Radeon AIW 9800 Pro
200GB in external usb inclosure
2x 120GB SATA seagates, not raided XP Pro on one
1 x 200GB SATA seagate
X connect 550W PSU modular one
Audigy 2 ZS

I get 2300 in 3d05 and windows is laggy in general. My former rig a 1800+ beat the pants off of it. what gives?
occasionally, it doesn't load into windows, it goes to a black screen. I got black screens and a BSOD this morning.

I dunno what you are talking about.l ~2300 is normall for a 9800series card.

Windows being laggy in general... did you install the M/B drivers (Nforce 6.11 5.10 or 6.14's) IIRC THat board uses the 3114 Silicon Image for additional serial ata ports, what drivers are you using for that as well as what SATA BIOS.

I have heard the X-Connects are flashy but dont perform very well at all, what are your voltages like, do they spike, or are the rails off.

holy sh!t!!!! thats the same problem I have been having. Maybe a virus on the net or something? Change of weather? Power surge?

Yeah, all drivers are installed, I got the sil3114 drivers off a link on a forum, the newest from silicon image. Installed mobo drivers etc, still crappy performance. I'll try a reformat, see if it helps.

Did you get the newest Chipset drivers for it from the Asus website? I have the same board, and until I got the newest drivers for it I experienced the same. Also, that is a normal score for a 9800Pro. I get 2700 with mine @ XT speeds. You should run 3dMark03, and when the test finishes click on details: you'll see your cpu score here. Do that and report back with your MHz setting and your 3dMark03 score, I can help you out more that way.

Is your 9800 a 256mb variant? I had low scores with my x800xt pe until I installed the beta 8.07's which contain the memory allocation fix. My scores jumped dramatically afterwards.
