A64 stock HSF

So my a64 HSF is burning up right now (52c ) and i'm wondering if my fan is running slower than it should be. I've heard people talking about 4500 rpm, but mine is running under 3000 rpm. No I am not going to buy an xp90 or anything else so don't waste your time recommending it. Is 3000 the normal speed, and if not, does anyone know how to change it?

Mine runs at 3300 rpm according to MSI Core Center. I have a 3200+ winchester clocked at 2.4ghz and it the temp sits at 42 idle and 51c under load. What motherboard do you have? Try updating the bios.

mines runs 3000 at the lowest. I've seen it go as high as 5000

If it's "stuck" @ 3000 maybe your motherboard is controlling the fan speed through some quiet fan setting within the BIOS? Or perhaps you haven't hit high enough temps to make your system automatically speed up to >3000 RPM's.

BTW if we're on the subject on how fast a A64 OEM fan can go. I've had 6000 RPM's more or less which is why I changed the OEM HSF to a quieter, less case/desk vibrating solution.

Strangely enough, my A64 3200 is idling at 35c with a case tewp of 31c. I thought this had to be incorrect, but the BIOS health says the same thing.

This is the stock CPU fan with Artic Silver on an Epox 8KDA3J 2.2 ...with four generic 80mm case fans

My XP 2200 used to run at 40c in the same case.
