I've heard the new A64's can now run 4 sticks of pc3200 at 400MHz, right???

Anyone know if there are restrictions on the timings when this is done?

I want to get a 4800+ when it comes out and hook it up to 4 sticks of Corsair PC3200XL memory at 2-2-2-5 at 400 MHz for 2GB's. Anyone know if this will be possible, or am I asking for trouble?

Thanks!

You'll be able to run all 4 DIMMs at 400Mhz, but you'll have to run them at a 2T command rate, which will decrease performance slightly.

It isn't really known yet as the X2s aren't out how they will react to 4 Dimms. Probably similar to venice and sand diego.

it wont be a big deal. the differnce between 1t and 2t is not noticably unless you use a benchmark. you will be fine.

That is my guess....

2t is not the big hit and in most cases ppl still wont need 2gigs of Ram for most things and can bypass this anyways.....If you OC a bit chances are you may be able to hit a higher clock speed, tighter timings and higher ddr speeds if you did run 2t and that could offset the slight pain of the 2t performance hit...I would worry about it....

inherently it may be difficult to get 2-2-2-5 to run with 4 sticks even if 2 matching pairs spec at those timings....I would be happy with anything cas 2 period....

Uses two dimms, gets you the two gigs, only runs at PC 3200 but you also get 1t

I want those!!! I need to find someone to buy my Gskills and I will be set.....I think the gskills are fine but damn why do they not have heatspreaders??

Cool, thanks everyone for the info! I appreciate it!

I thought I'd heard the X2s would have the same updated memory controllers as the venice/san diegos.

Didn't know about the 1T/2T gotcha, I'm glad you all pointed that out. I'm not sure how I'll go now, but at least I've a better idea of what to watch out for.

Thanks again everyone!
