A7N8X and CPU temps

I have an A7N8X and I was wondering if it used a thermal sensor inside the CPU socket or if it reads the CPU temp from the internal thermistor on all the newer AMD chips. I installed the board in such a rush that I forgot to check for the temp sensor in the CPU socket. From the looks of some pics on the net I can't seem to see a thermal sensor embedded in the CPU socket of the A7N8X. My guess is it probably reads the CPU temp directly from the CPU. Does anyone here know for sure if this is true?

Yes, the Nforce2 is supposed to read temps from the internal diode on the chip, problem is, that info is still culled and interpreted by the winbond (or whatever they use nowadays) and filtered through the BIOS, resulting in somewhat inconsistent readings. MBM, AsusProbe, the BIOS will all tell you something different. I'm currently juggling 4 different temp readings, the 3 above and an LCD monitor with a thermistor touching the side of the core.

I've had quite an education about the A7N8X and cpu temps.

You might wan to try Motherboard monitor 5.2.2.8. It supposedly reads the internal Diode.

I get the following readings...at idle

MBM Asus 1 - 32 C
Mother board temp in BIOS - 32 C looks like both are reading the motherboard temp.

MBM Asus 2 - 38 C
Asus Probe CPU temp 38 C - looks like both are reading the same thing. Maybe under the socket. I never looked for a thermistor.

MBM diode - 48 C
BIOS CPU temp 56 C---maybe this is reading the BIOS - I've been told that the CPU runs hotter in BIOS than in Windows because Windows idles the CPU.
If you ask me there is some problem with the winbond or interpretation of the Temp by the motherboard. OR?
