OK, this system is all up and running as follows:

[SYSTEM:
A7N8X Delux
XP2600+ (333fsb)
Seagate 60gb
Toshiba 16x DVD
Plextor 48x CDRW
Abit Siluro GF4-MX-460 (Please don't ask)
Promise Ultra 133 IDE IO card
ASUS Driver ver 1.16

ISSUES:
1) Sandra shows the 3 USB controlers as follows:
.....1 - Version 1
.....2 - Version 1
.....3 - Version 2

.....I understood these to all be USB 2, and the manual also seems to indicat this.
.....Why are USB 1 & 2 showing up as version 1?

2) The Ethernet Contreoler has no driver installed. When I try to install from the Ethernet Directory from the 1.16 driver, an .INF file shows up but windows will not install it.
.....Where is this driver and how do I install it?
Thanks for any and all help,
Herkulese

Check the bios. There is an option to specify whether each port is USB1.1+2.0 or just USB1.1. If they are set correctly, I would guess it's probably just a compatibility problem with the nForce2 and Sandra. I don't own any USB2.0 devices so I can't check it.

Is it the nVidia or the 3COM Ethernet controller? If it's the 3COM, you can download the newest drivers directly from Asus' website. If it's the nVidia controller that won't install, then I have no idea.

What operating system? As I recall, with our Win2000 A7N8X-D system, I simply installed Win2000, installed the unified driver package from the Asus CD, and my NIC was live and I could do the remainder of my work over the LAN (I left the 3Com NIC disabled in BIOS).

"Check the bios. There is an option to specify whether each port is USB1.1+2.0 or just USB1.1"\

Yes, I have it set to USB1.1+2.0 in BIOS.

"Is it the nVidia or the 3COM Ethernet controller? "

It is an Ethernet Controler listed in Unknown devices, and I believe that it has to be the 3Com, as the nVidia Network Controler shows up under Network Controlers.

"What operating system? "

Windows 2000 Pro

Doesn't it seem kind of odd that the 3Com driver would not be included in the ASUS unified driver?

Is one of the lan plugs for the nVidea NIC and the other for the 3Com NIC?
If so, which on is for which?

Uh, the one that is presently not functioning would logically be the 3Com one Do a quick search of the driver CD for "3Com," it should be on there somewhere. Or try installing the nVidia 2.0 unified driver package.

You can download the 3com MAC driver from the Asus site.

Unless you are using it though (if using only 1, use the Nforce MAC), you would be better off just disabling it like Mech said.

Perhaps it is already disabled?
Of course that doesn't explain why the O/S sees it in the first place. Sigh

Yes, I have it set to USB1.1+2.0 in BIOS.

I understood the USB 2.0 was backward compatible.
Are you suggesting that the O/S is identifying each USB device by which version of USB it is compatible with?
To answer, I guess Herkulese will have to help us.

Herk,
What do you have plugged in your USB slots, and are each USB1.1 or USB2.0 compatible?

OK, I found the 3Com driver.

I went back to the Download, Driver section of the ASUS sight, and selected ALL, then W2K, and there were all of these drivers:

UNIFIED
USB
SATA
3Com Lan

I, originaly, just went to the driver page for this board and saw the 1.16 driver and assumed (there I go again, assuming) that it contained all required drivers. Now I understand that it is only the ASUS version of the nVidia unified driver, which, of course, would not contain any of the 3rd party drivers.

I am still curious about the USB 1& 2 showing version 1 and USB 3 showing version 2 in Sandra.

Bare in mind that I thought I had installed the USB 2 driver with the ASUS 1.16 driver, but now I realize that I did not. When I do install the actual USB 2 driver, will it change the the description of USB 1 & 2 from version 1 to version 2?

Any comments on this, or are there better Monitor Programs for the nForce 2 chipset?

Yes, without the MCP-T's USB 2.0 drivers, the USB headers will be standard 1.0 or 1.1. Not sure if its the case with Win2K, but you can't install the IDE and USB 2.0 drivers w/out SP1 in XP. Make sure you have all your softpacks updated and isntalled.
