A7N8X Deluxe issues

I am helping a friend of mine build a new Athlon system, we both decided that the a7n8x deluxe would be the best board for him. We ordered the following equipment from googlegear and newegg.
XP2200+ Processor
A7N8X Deluxe Board
Single 512MB Corsair Module (will purchase another 512MB module in the future)
Case with a 350W PS
ATI 7500 AIW Retail
IBM/Hitachi 180GXP 120G w/8MB buffer
52X Samsung CDR/RW

We had the system fully assembled and when we hit the power button the board wouldn't POST. All fans and devices within the system spin up normally but the board simply refuses to POST. We have tried everyting to get the board to POST, switched slots for the memory modules, different video cards, unplugged all the devices except the processor and ram. In all cases the board will not even give off a simple beep code. It powers on but then does nothing, it just sits there in silence. I'm about ready to tell my friend to RMA the board, does anyone have any suggestions?

remove the cmos battery...reset the cmos via the jumper...let stay without a battery for 5 min...put battery back in. Hope it helps.
Good luck!

hi,

we had a similar problem with my system build
did you by any chance disable the sata controller by the jumper?
this is very close to the clr cmos jumper and my [experienced] friend was adamant he set the correct jumper but as it happens we had switched that one:
we had stripped the machine to base and switched componenst 1-by-1 with his machine and they were all fine.

when you power-up do all 3 lights on your keyboard flash? [that is what happened with me; again, no beeps].

hope this resolves it otherwise rma time?

This board will power on the fans and everything with the CMOS switch set to reset. Other boards do not. Make sure it is set to run.

are you able to start the power on self test during boot, or does your monitor show nothing ?

make sure your monitor cable is okay, and try another monitor , maybe its bad.

might try a differnent power supply, make sure the power connection is seated tightly into the motherboard.

have you tryed adjusting your monitor controls

are you sure you have the correct ram?

do you have a new hard drive, must be partitoned, formatted, and a system install , i am thinking comuter will post even without partitioned hard drive

FiberOptik: Did you get your problem with the mobo solved? I've got the same problem with an MSI board.

you didnt say whether you had changed those jumpers or not.
if so put them back to default and see if it works okay and then set the correct one....

I had a problem like this. On two boards, I RMA'd one before I stumbled across the answer.

There is a known issue with Corsair ram and the nForce2 chipset. If you have a stick of any other kind of ram laying around, throw it in and start the board up with that. Then simply save the bios, exit and install your Corsair ram. It worked for me anyways. This is actually posted on corsairs forum board, not sure if it applies to all corsair ram or just the twinx modules. Anyways, good luck.

There must be something contagious out there.

I went to turn on my system this morning (A7N8X mobo) and it won't boot up. Fans are spinning, LED's are lighting up, etc. but no beeps.

I powered down normally last night and everything was fine so I'm at a loss to figure out what happened.

I unplugged the power, removed the CMOS battery and set the jumper to clear the CMOS. I'm at work now so I won't have a chance to look at it until later today. In the meantime, does anyone have any thoughts on what went wrong?

first thing i would do was what you did, clear cmos

if no luck, try another video adapter

check and see if video adpater is firmly in place

if none of this works, it,s probably hardware, start replacing parts till you find the culprite

Clearing the CMOS hasn't help. A different video card didn't change things either. All drives are unplugged, the video card and RAM removed and still no change: the mobo gets juice but won't boot.

Two other things:

1. While removing the replacement video card, the board got a shot of electricity. (A discharge?) By that I mean, the LED case fans & cpu fan suddenly lit up and spun for a second. The PC was unplugged when it happened.

2. All of the capacitors on the board look okay to me.
