Hey guys! You may see my setup below:

The question is this. I've recently assembled a PC for my friend that has P4 400 mhz 2.6 CPU, 512 mb DDR3500 RAM (1 stick, Hynix make), and an ATI9600 video card.

Now games like Doom3, UT2004, etc run great on his computer, at high resolutions and high graphic settings. On mine - they tend to jerk, especially when i make swift turns (like it's loading or something), or just run through the level. When AI comes in - it just like a friggin slideshow on mine. Now, this is where it gets wierd, to say the least:

On 3DMark 2002 i score 14300, and his PC scored 9800.
On PCMark 2001 (or whatever ir is) he scored: CPU 5000, Mem 9500, HDD 850 and I scored 6500, 4300, 840 respectively. I jsut don't get it! My PC was formatted, OS reinstalled, all the drivers are the freshest. According to benchmarks, my PC should outrun his! But memory score is whats troubling me.

How much of a "bottleneck" is it?
I have Samsung DDR2700, runnig at 175 mHz, CL3, 3, 3, 7-9. I guess it's bad, isn't it?

Now if i get 3200 ram, and run it asynchronously to the CPU (don't wanna overclock the CPU, it's fine as is) at 400 mhz, will I notice any increase in performance, or rather, would it eliminate the "jerking" effect?

Or should i better get DDR3500 and run it a 400 mHz in order to procure smaller CL timings?

Now guys, I'm not talking about high performance memory like Corsair or Hyper-X. a 512 stick of 3200 costs 125 dollars over here (Russia). I'm looking at KingMax memory, both 3200 and 3500 are about 80 dollars.

Thanks a lot!
