I have the a7v8x and does it hang where it says "ESCD UPDATE SUCCESSFUL" Try to reset your cmos from bios menu and also if you only have one hard-drive remove the jumper on the hdd. Also set the HDD for 1st boot up device from the power menu i think in the bios.

No it actually gets to the point where it shows all hardware there and thats it. Funny thng is its not locked up persay cause even after letting it sit for 5min I was still able to hit "del" and get into the bios.

I did change the jumper on the HD and did reset the bios but still no good.

I have an A7N8X (dlx) and I had a broblem the time that I tried 512Mb sticks, the only way I could get it to work is use 256Mb sticks.
Back then I did a research on the issue and came to the genereal conclusion that the ASUS+NF2 mobo was not compatible with some 512 sticks. Yes I know it works for some ppl, but I saw more other complaining that it had problems.
Just try (if you can aquiere) a 256Mb stick and see if it works. I really dug into the issue and the only certainty that I could come up with is IF you are lucky then your Ausu+nf2 mobo will work with the particular brand of 512 stick, its not specific, just like the mobo makes up its mind ....."Now this brand of 512 I am not going to run with!".

Mine even passed the Mem86 in dos sometimes, but still it was the memory! Cause once I removed it, it was stable. Yes its strange. But worth a try if you can get your hands on a 256Mb modul, no harm done tring.

P.S.: althog mine sometimes booted and BSOD-d in the OS. And as I understand yours never even gets there.

I need help with a Graphics card for my machine. It has become a crashing machine . I get the BSOD in XP all of the time. 99% of the time it has something to do with the graphics card . I took out the AGP Riva TNT2 with 32 megs and put a Geforce 440 8x with 64 megs and I'm still having problems . If somone could give me the name of a card that works well with this board and XP I would be greatful. It runs Linux with no problems at all .
Asus A7N8X AMD 2500+ barton core 512 L2 cache
1 gig of samsung pc3200 momory a 256 meg chip in each of the blue slots and a 512 in the black slot.
1 40 gig and 1 80 gig WD hard drive
Mad Dog Predator mx 440 agp graphics card with 64 megs of ram
latest bios and no overclocking

He thinks its his grafics card, but he is wrong its the 512Mb stricks

Hi all (First post wooohoo)

Anyhow,

I got a A7N8X yesterday and i installed and booted and loaded windows fine, i then restarted went into BIOS and set the FSB to 166 (i have a 2600) and loaded, got into windows ran Prime 95 for a bit then it *locked up* (strange) so i turned it off thinking ill just fiddle untill it works, so i booted up again and no post :S this annoyed me. so i cleared CMOS and still no post.

This is the 4th nForce 2 board i have gotten through in the past 2 days they all really do have BIOS issues dont they ?

Anyone got ANY ideas?

Btw here are the system specs of what i have to try.

2100 XP
2600 XP

DDR Ram

2 x 512Mb Nanya 333
1 x 256Mb Nanya 333
1 x 256Mb Twinmos (Hynix) 266

Heatsinks

Zalmon Copper Flower And a Aero 7 (i have the Aero on atm)

i have a spare case and PSU (But the PSU is an Antec 380w so i dont think it is that )

If you need any more info just ask

Thanks again

another one:

I recently bought an Asus A7N8X w/ Geil Golden Dragon PC3500 512 MB DIMM, Radeon 9700 Pro, Western Digital 120 GB SE drive, Lite On 52x24x52 CDRW, Pioneer 16x slot load all in an Antec Performance PLUS 1080 case w/ 430 W power supply.

When I power up, I get the a7n8x deluxe screen and the single beep of a successful post. However, when I try pressing tab for the post screen, or alt-f2 to flash the bios, nothing happens. Also if I hold down delete when it's powering up nothing happens, I just get the screen and nothing responds. I have the feeling that maybe the mobo is bad (bad keyboard input or something), but I'm not sure. I've tried setting the FSB to 200 MHz, and clearing the CMOS, but nothing made a difference. Any help is greatly appreciated.
